Look, I know I come across as an ass on a certain thread. And I'll admit it's intentional. But as some here notice, when I'm not being attacked for my views, I'm not all that bad a guy. I wouldn't discuss that subject with anyone whose friendship I valued. But then again, if that person was my friend, we'd be able to discuss it, argue, then go on to something else. What two people think about that really doesn't matter. And like I said before, among us 20 or so participants, what real significance is this anyway?

I would argue that men are definitely more direct, but that women are more honest. The problem is our honesty tends to get lost in the volumes of indirect language we use, when a simple "yes" or "no" would suffice.

When did you last hear of a woman working down a coal mine? Or swinging from a girder 800 feet up??

Or trying to sell a clapped out 1983 Corolla?
I did not work in a coal mine Gary but I can and did operate a mining operation. My husband on one machine and me on the other we worked side by side for several years building the mining operation.

In the past I have hung off the side of some very large buildings or whatever else it took to complete the job at hand. Only to hear hoots and hollers from a few lowly construction workers on the ground. My husband happened to be there on one day that shouted their lewd suggestions. He walked over to them and asked if they would like to trade me places and have their friends making all that racket while they tried to do their work while hanging hundreds of feet off the ground from the side of a building. They declined his offer. Evidently they preferred to stay at ground level.

See that little avatar. That my friend looks much like my own mum and at barely 5' tall she also has done many a jobs that the majority of men cannot do. I do not know many men that can move buildings do you?

Precepts of what is man's work and what is women's work went out long ago. It is a shame so many hold onto such precepts and help breed discrimination and hatred of the opposite sex. With such thoughts many women are forced to live in poverty while these so called men "do the more challenging, difficult work...."

Yes, that about sums it up, IMO.

Huh?

But then men tend to be more honest and direct.

I doubt you would ever find more difficult, challenging work then being a housewife and mother.

Well said, Rod. Fortunately, outdated views like these are fading away like the bad dreams that they are.

I have faith that the next generation will bring us closer to doing away with sexism.

As a housedad of my one son, I have it down pat. There's a system. It's not all that hard. And I'd rather do this than work a 40-50 hour week.
