Do you have problems with reading comprehension?

I sure do. I totally see what you are saying. They cancelled the policy after she started running up high dollar bills. That's clear. But I'm sure people that they CAN'T catch in a lie are getting their bills paid just fine.

It's just that this lady DID lie on her application, whether purposely or through ignorance, it is still the leverage the company needed to cancel her policy. Had she NOT lied, she would be just fine. Where am I wrong?

The company paid for her lumpectomy, but cancelled during the chemo.

Again, you can't possibly know that.

Blue Cross makes policy about-face - Los Angeles Times

The insurer's new stance is aimed at ending rescissions based on policyholders' honest mistakes, inadvertent errors and other inconsistencies about their medical histories on applications for coverage. Consumers contend that the forms are purposely confusing, increasing the odds that applicants will make mistakes.

Granted, this is Blue Cross of CA, but they are all the same.

How can I not possibly "know" that? As you pointed out in your own post, the lady says she was "busy" during the interview. Anyone who is sure they told the truth doesn't answer an important question like that with that kind of ambiguity.

As someone who can defend her stance on abortion with some of the most BS I have ever seen in my life, it would seem you of all people would be able to see the issues in her story.

Well now, you would think that Health Net would stop and read the article and go back to insuring the hairdresser? Maybe, maybe not.

And I am a client of Blue Cross of CA. But I hate going to doctors.

Oh, please.

You KNOW she lied. How do you KNOW that?

Oh, forget it. I forgot who I'm speaking to...

And he almost renegs on his promise when they come back with the broomstick. Thanks to Toto, he keeps his promise.

How do you know she told the truth? She admits she "may have unintentionally lied". Talk about MY reading comprehension?

The quote is on the second page of the LA Times article.
The forum attached on the Coolrunnings site has some good thoughts on this as well.

You can keep your link, it seems you might need it.

I read your post, and the LA times article twice, and I never saw where she says 'I may have unintentionally lied'.

I'm sorry I paraphrased...

"She added that she never intended to mislead the company. Bates said the broker filled out the application, asking questions about her medical history as she styled a client's hair in her busy shop and he talked to another client waiting for an appointment at the counter. She maintained that she answered his questions as best she could and did not know whether he asked every question on the application."

If I were asked if I were honest about an application I signed my name to, I would not have been so vague. Yes or no answers. She was busted and she knows it.
