Let's quit with the sob stories, and get with the solutions.
I was countering your criticism of the UK NHS.

Incidentally, everyone you meet in Britain criticises the NHS too, including the people who work in it, politicians and patients.

But at least it's there and most British people realise they are better off than their American cousins, millions of whom are left sick or bankrupt or both.

I mention that because there will never be a perfect health care solution. Every approach will have flaws, and there will always be people who abuse the system.

You have to accept then when trying to devise a solution

But if every other industrialised nation can provide universal health care then there's no excuse why America can't do likewise some day.

If we have to have a choice between having excellent but expensive care and barely adequate but free, I'll stick with the expensive. I don't want the whole system dumbed down.
My system will keep the medicare/medicaid system for truly indigent and elderly, the sales tax system for the basic care but capped to keep costs low, and the premium system for the catastrophic care.

With almost all care being covered, that'll leave resources for pro-bono and other charity care.

Either you buy the premium or you don't. But if you don't and get sick, you rolled your dice and you take what you get. You'll spend all your assets until you are poor enough for the indigent care or have to hope for charity. That is what insurance is, protection of assets.

If no system is perfect, then I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking to keep a system solvent and feasible.

If this country doesn't gaurantee food and housing, guaranteed healthcare shouldn't even be on the table yet.

No other industrialised country guarantees food and housing either - but they all offer health care.

If you criticise my "sob stories" then I'll criticise your callous disregard for human life and nostalgic yearning for a return to feudalism!

Let's see if anyone else on here has any bright ideas.

As I heard it, the Scandinavian countries offer free health care, do they not?

You have any examples of any that actually work without taxing the hell out of all of it's working class.

If you criticise my "sob stories" then I'll criticise your callous disregard for human life and nostalgic yearning for a return to feudalism!

You are welcome to criticize me for standing for what I believe and supporting what I think is best for "my" family. I got no problem wit dat. But in my opinion, my plan DOES care for human life. Who is left out? It just makes you responsible for your choices, or the lack thereof.

AS I have always said, there is nothing free. And if we put everyone's healthcare on the back of those that pay the taxes, I don't see that system being any better for the middle class than we have now.

Let's see if anyone else on here has any bright ideas.
Doesn't look like it.

Socialized medicine causing imigration issues...
New Zealand Bans Woman for Being Too Fat - News Bloggers

Robyn Toomath, a spokesman for New Zealand's Fight the Obesity Epidemic, said, "The immigration department can't afford to import people who are going to be a significant drain on our health resources ... You can see the logic in assessing if there is a significant health cost associated with this individual and that would be a reason for them not coming in."

I don't think THAT model is gonna fly here in the land of the SUPER BUFFET.
