Americans are so smart in some ways and so naive in others.

Level up: 57%, 187 Points needed | | I think that many of us just can't be bothered after everything else in our daily lives to be informed about what is really best for us. We leave that all to the "leadership", so we can go on working and consuming and sedating ourselves with food, sex, alcohol, drugs, and whatever else spoiled, lazy people engage in. Pretty sad. |

Americans are so smart in some ways and so naive in others. | I'm smart enough to know that a single mother with a few kids doesn;t start paying taxes until around $20,000 of income or more. And that number is getting larger every tax season. Considering the shift in values that we currently have going on, I'm smart enough to know that a majority if not all of the burden is gonna be placed on single childless people and middle and upper income wage earners. And to me, that's not quite gonna work.
Nothing pisses me off more than hearing that some chick who only paid $2000 in federal income tax is getting a "refund" for $4000 because of EIC and crap. It's not enough to pay no tax, but to get free money as a "rebate" is insane.

At least gary has some redeeming qualities, but you?
You have no problem freeloading off the system, but heaven help if anyone else needs to. |

You have no problem freeloading off the system, but heaven help if anyone else needs to. | I'm not freeloading. I signed a contract to protect your sorry ass if the Chinese/Russians/Middle Easterners attacked us so you can sit around and get fat. Along with that contract came certain guarantees for my health if something happened. Well, something DID happen. Something that was not my fault. Under the insurance plan provided by the government to military service members I am only getting what ANY OTHER MEMBER OF THE SERVICE is entitled to.
If you don't like the military health plan, write your congressman. Until then, I have no problem collecting what I earned by offering to serve my country. If you don;t like it. You are hereby welcome to kiss my ass.

Yes, FX, people who DO pay taxes. They actually make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford the exhorbitant premiums most insurance companies charge. On my other forum, a woman who is in a group plan for small businesses just got her notification of increase in premiums to almost $1000 a month.
She pays taxes, as does her husband.
Oh, and BTW, waaa waaa to you about EIC. Jeepers, someone who makes less the $25,000 a year gets a little extra back at tax time, boo hoo to you.
When I was single with 3 kids, just barely making it, that little extra I got at tax time took care of dental visits for the kids. |
