It started with us back in October. My youngest had a cold that would not go away for more than about 10 days before another illness set in. By January, I was kind of freaking out about it because she had lost weight and was looking like a P.O.W. The only thing that helped her after her many doctors appointments was Zyrtec, for allergies.

Whatever kind of bug was around this season was unlike any that I've seen before. And I saw people at work having the same problems that my family was having. Then I went online, and saw that many people around the country were having the same problems. I think it is a very different flu then we are used to. I have no idea why though.

'Crud' is the slang. It really is a flu bug.

I got it, and it turned into a severe sinus infection. Took two rounds of antibiotics to finally get rid of it.

And there was a norovirus going around at the same time, and Quinn got them both at the same time, so he couldn't breath, the mucus was going into his stomach, and that was making him throw up worse, to the point he was throwing up blood.

It was really bad here. I can't wait until it gets warmer so I can air out the house.

I guess it is bad enough that we are stricken with what we don't know, I guess. I took care of it on my own.

The flu-shot makers are going to work on a three-strain flu vaccine for 2008-2009 flu season.

I looked up on the web yesterday trying to find out more about it. And lo and behold, my thread came up.

Part of the problem was that the flu vaccine given didn't cover some of the strains we saw this flu season.

A lot of people forget that you don't get a fever with a cold. If you have a fever, it's the flu (influenza). You have many of the same symptoms, but the flu is much worse, and can lead to death.

Like I said, take a look at the AOL search in my last post. Even a soldier in Kuwait came down with the "Kuwaiti crud." Go figure.

I haven't heard any doctors talk about that.

I had to use my inhaler to help combat the mystery illness, like the soldier did in Kuwait.
