This is an absolute disgrace
I just found out that an acquaintance died from cancer. She was diagnosed just a couple weeks before she died.

The reason for the wait? She had been between jobs, and didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to pay for the tests herself. She had to wait until her insurance kicked in.

The wait killed her.

God Bless America.

So much for the Land of the Free.

Still at least the insurance company saved some money and that's what really matters

I'm very sorry to hear that. I bet their are a lot of people in the same situation. There's no excuse for this.

Why does health care cost so much? Could it be that the government has caused the expensive health care? It seems if health care were such a gold mine we could invest in the profit venture and be able to afford insurance at any cost?

Where do our health care dollars go?

I say a large portion of health care cost is related to litigation and we can't invest in trial lawyers. Perhaps we need to change our approach on medical litigation? Reduce the incentive for lawyers to profit and then put insurance on a competitive basis country wide so the most efficient insurance company could challenge the lesser efficient ones?

If a night in a hospital costs $200.00 why aren't doctors and nurses rich?

If it costs $10,000 for an electronic cap scan why don't private companies open offering the same service for $1,000?

I don't know where you live - and I can't speak for nurses - but the doctors I know are all millionaires.

Trial lawyers send doctors 90% of their business. Nine out of ten referrals by doctors to other doctors for tests are unnecessary for 99% of their patients but done so to protect themselves against trial litigation from the 1% that may be affected if they fail to do the referral. The referrals and unneeded medications doctors prescribe to protect themselves from litigation on that 1% possibility causes injury through side affects of drug use. Drugs create medical problems harming vital organs but hey the trial lawyers can sue the drug makers when the harm occurs causing the price of drugs to go up too. If we were to remove the protection of the 1% litigation then the cost of health care could drop by rates in other developed nations in the world.

It's the very poor people themselves, that can't afford insurance, who are causing the sky rocketing health care costs. Why? Because they sue for every little thing - especially if their baby is born with some defect. Could it be bad genes? No, it has to be the doctor's fault.

Malpractice insurance costs the average doctorover $60,000 a year. Why? Because of frivilous lawsuits brought forth by poor people who want to make a buck because their kid was born with only a brain stem.

And yet most doctors are still millionaires.

Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this. That's why I support the Pickens Plan. I have never known a doctor who was not a millionaire by age 40 or so. Where are all the non-millionaire doctors hiding?
