Exactly.

The argument could also be made that God made dirt, therefore we should smoke it.

Poppies have been a huge part of the medical community. Ever heard of Morphine??

Strike Two.

And actually I do think opium should be legal since it is of earth. I don't think a government should have the right to tell people what they can and cannot use that is naturally occuring on this planet. Cheese isn't good for you either, should the government intervene?? Hell no.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

morphine is manufactured in a strictly controlled environment and dispensed only by prescription. These conditions do not exist with marijuana

Simply put, A STATISTICAL association is NOT a causal explanation.

It's the equivalent of saying that, since most people have had a drink of alcohol, this CAUSED some of them to smoke cannabis-or some other drug-at a later time.

And, why shouldn't some of the same reasons why someone has a drink of alcohol in the first place and at an earlier time ALSO be the same EXACT reasons why they would choose some other drug to use at a later time?

The "Gateway Theory" is bullshit, plain and simple.

Of course it is. But it's because that's what you WANT to believe.

So go ahead and smoke whatever crap you want. But let's not make believe that the Journal of the American Medical Association DOESN'T carry more credibility than YOUR OPINION.

Yeah, that's kind of like looking at NARAL for objective information on abortions.
