Currently, health insurances premiums paid by companies are tax exemptions for the companies, this plan would eliminate this tax break for business.....something all our liberal friends should love, eliminating some of that corporate welfare.

Second, the standard deduction would be $7500 for individuals. Basically that means that the premiums you pay up to $7500 are exempted. This will actually make insurance more affordable fro everybody.

Because companies will be losing the exemption, more and more will not provided coverage, this is a trend we are already seeing due to the high costs. As a result, insurance companies will be forced to make their products more accessible to more people. The current system that has business and unions offering insurance give these companies no incentives to attract the individual consumer.

Buzzchick you said that your income would increase by $14,400 a year, yes it would, however, you would be able to deduct the full amount from you tax liability due to the tax exemption, in other words you would see no increase in your taxable income. Furthermore, because this break will make the buting of individual policies more attractive, companies will compete for you business by trying to provide you with more attractive packages at lower costs than competitors, which means the possibility of reducing your cost...In other words more you would have more disposable income.

The most effective way to lower costs is to create a demand for a product. A demand stimulates a supply. A free market stimulates competition which results in lower costs.

People want fix for health care, well this is a great one, one that would not be just a bandaid but rather a long-term solution. However, this will be dead on arrival in congress. The democrats will not support this because it takes money from their largest contributors....the UNIONS.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

Tristan trolling again we see:

"a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are inflammatory, insulting, incorrect, inaccurate, absurd, or off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others.

Why do we pay for cable and still suffer endless advertising?

Why do we pay to get advertised to?

Either cable TV should be ad-free or the advertisers whould pay our cable bills

SO much for the Land of the Free

you can get cable without commercials.

that would be the home channel (in my case, it's Comcast)

you pay for the access to the cable system

if you want to watch tv programs, we pay for those by advertising

just as you can walk in a mall for free and look at all the posters of the cinemas' attractions - but if you want to watch a movie, you have to buy a ticket.

Of course, you can pay for tivo and never watch a commerical again

$7500 p.a. is $650 a month

In 2005 average household income in the US was $46,326, or $3,860 a month.

Where will these people find an additional $650 a month?

The only real solution to the nightmare of US healthcare is a universal solution to which everyone contributes

That solution has many flaws to, but its the only way to provide healthcare to everyone and not just the affluent.

The affluent are people who can afford $160 a month for cable TV

Thanks. I've add my two cents worth on about three or four topics. This is a good site.
