It's too bad they didn't also get a picture from 10 years earlier - when the Native American Indians were attacking and killing EACH OTHER.

Immigration
I'm assuming all this immigration talk is dealing with the Hispanic population here in America. We need to understand immigration from all aspects and viewpoints before arriving at a decision.
First of all; how many of us today have ever visited Ellis Island over the years? Does the inscription: "Give us your tired huddled masses, yearning to be free" ring a bell?
America was, is, and always will be a land of immigrants. How many of us can trace our ancestry here in America back to a non-immigrant? Not that many;I'll bet.
The immigrants of today may not be coming through Ellis Island to get here, but they are coming for the same reason most of our ancestors did 90 or so years ago: seeking a better life for themselves and their families. What's wrong with that? These people are throwing away everything they have ever known, hoping that what they will find here in America will be better. Like our ancestors, a lot take on low-paying jobs that the rest of us don't seem to want (but complain that there are no jobs).
I say this because I hear too much complaining about this issue that turns into Hispanic-bashing. We need to get on our politicians to make immigration a more orderly process to 1):Mitigate the financial expense America takes on 2): Stop the current hate-mongering, and 3): since a lot of politicians made this an election issue; make them live up to their promises.
The answer is not mass deportations; but organization. Our answer cannot come from hate or fear; it must come from understanding. Remember; the next time you see an immigrant working at a Burger King or shopping at the local K Mart; you are just seeing a later image of one of your own ancestors 90 or so years ago doing the same thing for the same reason: to make a better life for themselves.

Whitepower, what you believe to be a joke is, because our elected politicians created immigration policy (or thier idea of it) and cannot truly decide on how to enforce it. Also, We also need to place blame on the American businesses that exploit the cheap labor pool and deny Americans these jobs and benefits. I would like to see some stiffer penalties for these companies.

Nebraskaboy, if those three were illegals as you say; isn't your dad's friend's company breaking the law by hiring them? If the three are not illegal; don't they have the right to work for whatever they agreed to? yes, illegally crossing the border into America was and is a crime; but what about the companies that are hiring them? I'm just saying that there is an American side to this problem that nobody seems to want to address. What do you suggest as penalty for these companies?

America First; I am disabled also, so I know where you are coming from. Stopping all illegal immigration must srart here in America. As I stated before; there are companies; here in America- owned by Americans, that flout laws by their hiring practices in regards to illegal immigrants. Let's start here.
If we choose to believe that the illegal alien population already here is indespensible to the American people and economy; then we will need to start getting them registered legally.
However, I do not believe the answer to be in the mass roundups and deportations that I have seen advocated here. I know this is a hot-button issue for most of you as it is with me; but I ask that your thoughts and answers come from common sense and not blind hatred or outright predjudice. Again, your elected officials need to hear from you on this issue and also live up to what you elected them into office to do. Thank you.

First of all I can agree with most but not all your saying..I believe American company's should be for the American people and should stay in America.

Now with that said.

I don't have blind hate for anyone, if i did , you would be seeing my dead body on the late news...Predjudice..well we all have some of that in us.
as far as illegals go..we need to round all them up (by what ever means it take's) and get them out of this country, and after that,we need to get rid of anyone that has help them in anyway..now i am sure some liberal with a few brai
n cells left will call me a racist and play the race card to the hills, but i am use to it. I am not a racist, Just ask my ex-black brother in-law.

America is for Americans ..

Clarify one thing for me AF. You state that America's companies should be for the American people and stay in America. Does a company (any company)have the right to relocate its operations to wherever they deem so? How could we restrict this realistically? As long as a company is in America, how would you propose that we enforce labor laws already in existence but flouted shamelessly by American companies?
Idid not mean to imply that you personally are a racist or have blind hatred for others. By "blind hatred" I meant feelings directed purely against Hispanics just for being Hispanic. I've stated before that I believe we need stronger penalties for companies that are not following laws by thier hiring practices. Lately on the news, there seems to be a lot of stories about companies being raided in search of illegals. To me this is fine; but what of the companies that hired them in the first place? Where (and how) are they being held accountable?
