We welcome every person to America with open arms. Just fricken do it the legal way and we wont get pissed off at you. To become a legal citizen of America you need to be able to speak and understand English to a certain extent to pass the test given. After you pass the test and are legal by all means speak your native language around the US...but when someone pulls you over on the side of the road or asks you a question on the job. They should get a response in English or close to it to be understood.

Does anyone know if you have to press 2 for English when calling a Mexican government agency?

No i think you press all the numbers in a closed fist pattern because you are annoyed with all this automated crap

I also think it's discriminatory for Spanish to be the only other language. Why not Italian? Why not Swahili? Why not Chinese? Japanese?

What we are basically saying is, yes, we have a large Spanish speaking community here, but since a lot of them are here illegally, we need to make sure things are easy for them.

I'm sorry, I just don't buy that.

That's new, then, since when I was growing up in Detroit that wasn't going on.

I do know that Detroit has a large Middle Eastern population. Dearborn supposedly has the largest Middle Eastern population outside of New York and Los Angeles.

3 for Italian
4 for Japanese
5 for Chinese
6 for Arabic...Note: Picking this number will subject your converstaion to recording
7 for Indian
8 for Swahili
9 for Page 2
