Level up: 27%, 100 Points needed | | I think that the owner of a restaurant should have the power to make policies like whether or not to require english when ordering. Also I think that laws are sometimes rediculous. There should be no law forbidding smoking or transfat. Let the potential customer decide with his or her feet where they will eat. |

Pourquoi quelqu'un devrait-il être forcé de seulement parler l'anglais dans un pays libre(gratuit) ?
Warum soll irgend jemand gezwungen werden, nur Englisch in einem freien Land zu sprechen?

Level up: 27%, 100 Points needed | | I used to work in a furniture factory. There are many Puerto-Ricans working there, many who speak little or no english. I was trying to learn a little spanish. One second generation Puerto Rican told me once that it was to his people's advantage to learn english. |

At home, they speak with their parents and siblings in their native language. People can learn to speak any language, but if you want to function in a country where the main language is english, learn english. It's just common sense.

| I believe that all public buildings (city hall, courts, banks, etc.) should absolutely be smoke-free. Period.
However, I agree that restaurants, bars should be able to do what they want about smoking. As a non-smoker I certainly wouldn't patronize a restaurant that allowed smoking - but that's MY choice. And I think if they want to serve transfats to adults, that's their decison as well...however, it should be like alcohol - NO transfat to CHILREN who are too young to make an intelligent decision on the matter.
