| Okay, so now Madonna has young David Banda with her in London. But a multi-million dollar legal fight is brewing. Some of the Malawi "civil rights" groups are "really concerned. Why? I don't look at Madonna as any kind of paradigm of virtue. Not at all. In fact, I think she's pretty much a whore and a hypocrite. But what's the alternative? David Banda stays in the orphanage where he will likely die from Malaria, as his brothers did? Or die from AIDS? Or continue living in a country where the majority of people are forced to live on less than $1 per day? Don't people have better things to argue about? Don't these "civil rights" groups have better things to spend their time and money on? Idiots. Independent Online Edition > Africa | |||||||||||||||||||||

| If I recall the article on CNN correctly (read last night), the activists are concerned about their kids being "bought" out of the country. I think they are concerned about child traffiking. Whether that's what's happening or not is another thing. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Then again, word is now the boy's father feels he was duped into signing the adoption papers and had no intention of letting the boy be adopted, only letting Madonna raise him. Personally, celebrity social conciousness not withstanding, I'd rather see orphans here in the States being adopted first.. I'm all for domestic issues first, international relations second. Great opportunity for the Malawi boy, fat chance for some poor desrving American kid. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I never have understood why some Americans feel they need to go abroad to find children to adopt. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| My wife and I adopted our daughter from China in 1997. There are too few children in America up for adoption that don't have serious issues. That's why we went abroad to adopt. | |||||||||||||||||||||
