Too late for that now..the liberals have done put in the heads of these illegals, that they have as much right to be here as the real Americans, the on;y way to stop that is to kick the illegals butt back to mexico and let them make thier own country..along with the liberal dogs ..

I have yet to form an opinion on this topic, but I do have a question that maybe one of you can answer, or point me in the right direction. Do we give citizen status to children of illegal immigrants?

As far as I understand the constitution, any child born in America is automatically an American citizen even if the parents are here illegally. If I am mistaken, would someone explain it.

I found the following on http://www.uscis.gov/ (Home > Services & Benefits > Citizenship > Citizenship of Children):

Quote:
Citizenship of Children

The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees citizenship at birth to almost all individuals born in the United States or in U.S. jurisdictions, according to the principle of jus soli. Certain individuals born in the United States, such as children of foreign heads of state or children of foreign diplomats, do not obtain U.S. citizenship under jus soli.

Certain individuals born outside of the United States are born citizens because of their parents, according to the principle of jus sanguinis (which holds that the country of citizenship of a child is the same as that of his / her parents). The U.S. Congress is responsible for enacting laws that determine how citizenship is conveyed by a U.S. citizen parent or parents according to the principle of jus sanguinis. These laws are contained in the Immigration and Nationality Act.

In addition, Each year, many people adopt children from outside the U.S. The Child Citizenship Act of 2000 (CCA) grants those children the ability to automatically become U.S. citizens when they immigrate to the United States.
It seems to me that the assumption is that the parents are citizens of the U.S. when citizenship is granted to the child. According to Wikipedia, at least one nation has required the parent be a citizen of the country so people don't just come there and have their kid so it's an automatic citizen. I don't know why the U.S. can't enact this.

Quote:
Blurred lines between jus soli and jus sanguinis
Some countries are restricting lex soli by requiring that at least one of the child's parents be a national of the state in question at the child's birth, or a legal permanent resident of the territory of the state in question at the child's birth, or that the child be a foundling found on the territory of the state in question. The primary reason for imposing this requirement is to limit or prevent people from travelling to a country with the specific intent of gaining citizenship for a child. The 27th amendment to the constitution of the Republic of Ireland was passed by referendum in 2004 for this purpose.

Everyone here considers me a liberal but I feel that if someone enters this country illegally they are criminals. The security of this country should start with our borders. I like the shots that intangible provided!

You are correct here ; Alias. Any person born upon American soil (incuding military bases overseas are automatically granted American citizenship. As I understand it also; if the birth took place on a military installation overseas, the child in question would have dual citizenship- American and the host country of birth.

Cintas warned against firing immigrant force

A Mississippi Democrat in line to become chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has warned the nation's largest uniform supplier it faces criminal charges if it follows a White House proposal to recheck workers with mismatched Social Security numbers and fire those who cannot resolve the discrepancy in 60 days.
Rep. Bennie Thompson said in a letter to Cintas Corp. it could be charged with "illegal activities in violation of state and federal law" if any of its 32,000 employees are terminated because they gave incorrect Social Security numbers to be hired.
"I am deeply troubled by Cintas' recent policy change regarding the Social Security Administration's 'no match' letters," Mr. Thompson said in the Nov. 2 letter. "It is my understanding that hundreds of Cintas' immigrant workers have received these letters. I am extremely concerned about any potentially discriminatory actions targeting this community."

So this dumbocrat is worried law breakers will be discriminated against. Keep it up dems. 2008 will be a huge victory for republicans if this is how they demonstrate their enforcement of homeland security when their nation is at war.
First of all; I really don't see what Cintas is crying about. Are the complaining that now they are the victim of "partisan politics"? They need to remember that if there are any illegals working for them; they were required to have checked for proper documentation before hiring them. hiring practices such as this are epanding this problem exponentially; and I really think some heavy fines (and possible jail terms) need to be levied to whatever firms continue this practice.
