Don't Give the Social Security $$$ of My Parents to Illegal Immigrants
Don’t Give the Social Security $$$ of My Parents to Illegal Immigrants

I read some rather sobering reports over the weekend about the pending budget problems in both Washington and many statehouses across the union. Government spending has risen at such a rate and budget deficits have gotten so big that we’re all soon to see increased taxes AND cuts in government spending in order to get our financial house even reasonably in order.

This is sure to develop into a real battle between political parties, ideologies and special interests over the next couple of years. Get ready.

I’m sure a lot of this will get pretty complicated. But I also think two issues deserve particular attention.

First, I think we have a clear moral obligation to commit to the well being of our parents and grandparents. In my mind these are the people that helped build this terrific country. To cut their social security would be flat-out wrong.

Which leads to my second point. There are anywhere from 15 to 18 million illegal immigrants living in the US. Some of these are good people, some aren’t. Some of them are receiving illegal government assistance (social security, medicare, aid to families, etc.), others aren’t. But, on balance, my intuition tells me that they are costing us billions and billions of dollars.

As we start cutting government spending it is aid to illegal immigrants that should be at the top of the list. WE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT CUT SUPPORT FROM OUR PARENTS so the government can pay out that money to illegal immigrants.

Not my parents. Not your parents.

The problem is not the Legislature but rather the courts, it is the courts that have decided and held that illegal immigrants are entitled to the same treatment as citizens. Don't get me wrong, I believe that there is a standard under which all people should be treated, however, there should remain things that only citizens are entitled to receive.

Thanks to the courts illegals are allowed to receive welfare, education, medical care, social security and array of other social benefits. How long before a court realizes that it can expand these benefits to people that do not even live in this country, think this is a joke, you better think again.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

I think this is a record for me, here on DTT, but I agree with all of you!
Illegal immigrants should be deemed by the courts as ineligible to recieve anything. I think it does cut into our Social Security funds already(we have been 'borrowing' from it for years).
I do think our immigration laws towards Mexico are unfair but that is off topic.
Another issue that should be looked at is the population explosion. People in under-developed countries dont even consider this subject and even some of the developed countries avoid thinking about this. I seriously see the United States having to, someday, close our borders to all immigrants and I think it maybe actually be a necessity.

I did want to also mention that this can be fixed through legislative measures, but only if we get tough on illegal immigrants on the local level.
The State Police, here in RI, stopped a van load of illegal Mexican immigrants on I-95 about a month ago. They called Immigration and Naturalization and were told to let them go! How can they be illegal if they aren't arrested when found?
I think the arguement that some businesses will fail if we get tough on their workers is lame because they are also breaking the law. You want to see unemplyment drop quick? Prosecute them all and give them a choice of being given amnesty, (give this choice to anyone illegal that is already here and if they turn themselves in) to help build the 700 miles of fence to secure our southern border or go back to their country. I also think that once this is done they should be given citizenship. After that we need to take a hard look at population figures from around the globe!

Congress (or the President I believe) can order all agencies to prosecute anyone here illegally. I think that is the first step if we want to cut spendings because of illegal immigrants. Then I think we should consider looking at closing our borders to further immigration.

We gain two immigrants in this country per minute. That is a staggering figure.

U.S. figures:
One birth every.................................. 8 second One death every.................................. 12 seconds
One international migrant (net) every............ 30 seconds
Net gain of one person every..................... 13 seconds
