I dunno. Guess it's the mother in me...But young people do have alot to contribute to a discussion, because they look at things with a fresh new look. Where us older people look with jaded eyes so to speak. For us it's all 'old news' while for them it's a brand new world. I'd rather encourage that in a person, see it being encouraged, then see it being torn down or insulted.
Ok i sorry i didn't know i wasn't allow a bad day and habits are hard to break, plus the fact that i am been dealing with two teens that didn't do well on thier report cards, so now i have atleast six people piss at me, and all i am trying to think is "welcome to the family"..

but if it make you feel better, than your right , I got short but at times i can be an ass,and anti has good(i said that before too) ideas , so now you can put the sword down...

Hey, hate that you're having a bad day. And you're allowed to have one. I just think you're taking it out on others that isn't a part of all that's happening in your life right now. I mean heck, you've even been gruff with regulars you usually get along with? And defensive?

As to the teenager thing? That's why I'm soooooo glad mine are grown now. And the one that still lives here is rarely here. Athough...He's the 'good child' and doesn't raise any troubles for us anyways. The other one though....Trust me, thank the Divine that your only problem is over a report card...My youngest kept us in court most of the time the last 3 years he lived here. We had him arrested 6 times alone for trying to attack us, doing drugs, sneaking out while on probation...I was so happy when he moved in with his father last year. Last time I saw him was July 6th, the night him and his friends robbed us and was caught 3 blocks from the house.

Tell you what...borrow my favorite saying...It's better to be p**sed off then p**sed on. And if that doesn't work...Have a bud light.

As far as housing go's ,not to long ago we found a trailer (3 BR)that atleast 30 mexicans was staying in,the sewage was run out in the open, and they were paying $500 a month, yet the smell was so bad we had to have the health dept to shut the home down and fine the hell out of the landlord, then the illegals were ran off.there many things go on with the illegal that done of you care about until it hits y'alls area... so i say get rid of them now.
yes, i realize many *are* being paid under the table. and regardless of that, they still spend their money here in the United States, and in so doing, they are paying sales taxes and such.

and the people you are talking about are the exception and not the rule.

i am not saying that illegal immigration is RIGHT or acceptable. I was responding to the specific point that "illegals don't contribute to the US economy/pay taxes." they do. and they don't get anything in return for it.

for the record, i AM against illegal immigration... people who are here undocumented are breaking the law... HOWEVER, that being said, and being a "bleeding-heart liberal" , these people are human beings too, and deserving of our help and compassion.

Now America is drowning under the deluge of illegals - and you want us to just suck it up? There are American CITIZENS who are hungry, poor, tired, and homeless. I say, we help them BEFORE we take care of the criminals.
Why isn't it easier for Mexican and Canadian citizens to be able to live in this country? We know people aren't going to stop coming here illegaly so why not make it easier so we would have documentation. America should be less strict on regulations of North American immigrants.

True dat. The problem is partially with our heavily bureaucratic system and the fact that we focus too much on skilled labor.

pfffffft
Canada has WAY more available space.
Let people who want to leave their country go there.
The only thing that makes it "hard" to get into America is (a) skill requirements and (b) a small - I think it's $2000 - amount to start life here.
Why should we be the target for the unskilled penniless of the world?
