I agree there is an immigration problem, and I agree that we need to do something. But Whatever we decide to do needs to be decided upon rationally, with consideration of what serves the greatest good.

And more importantly, we should not drag immigration into every damn issue. The issue here was vehicular homicide. Yes, it was by an immigrant, but that doesn't matter, I don't care if it was done by an alien dolphin speaking pig latin... Americans drink & drive too... that is the issue.

My point AND O'Reilly's is that illegals who are here i-l-l-e-g-a-l-l-y should be deported BEFORE they commit crimes...PERIOD! Good Lord, man! There are rapists, murderers, child predators and more coming across the border! Don't we have enough of our own criminals in this country without welcoming the criminals of every other country in the world??

1. Most cannot even read Spanish, let alone English.
2. The American people have shelled out tens of millions of dollars to accomodate them on learning English alone.
3. They get money most of our legal citizens don't qualify for, but would if there was no competition.
4. Emergency rooms have closed in some of the major California cities because they use it as a place for office calls. And then don't bother to pay the bill.
5. They drive autos without driver's licenses and insurance.

Border laws need to be ENFORCED!

O'Reilly has a point on the immigration front, but turning something as tragic as a drunk driving accident into something political is just plain wrong. As much as I think Rivera is sensationalist scum, he was right about O'Reilly. He really is using the issue to make a cheap political point.

He didn't "turn anything" into anything. He simply stated some very obvious facts which no one cares to admit.

What if he had been a citizen? Would they be alive?

What if he had been shot at the first DUI for being a non-citizen?

What if he'd been a crossdresser?

It's a moot point. That's why it's not an immigration issue.

Suppose he had been executed on his first offense.
The girls would still be alive.

A lot of people would still be alive if we executed drunk drivers on the first offense.
But none of this "what if" actually addresses the issue of whether or not executing people for drunk driving makes sense.

None of your "what if" proves anything regarding immigration policy and its justification.


Suppose we discovered a Mexican citizen / illegal immigrant who had just created the cure for cancer, and then he got deported.
I guess that proves we gotta have open borders, huh...

The point is simple.
If you want to talk about immigration issues, then talk about IMMIGRATION.
Don't bring up the acts of one illegal immigrant, and sensationalize somebody's death to try and gain points.
