February 3, 2005 marks the day hevusa (Michael) joined Defending the Truth. It is truly an honor to have Michael a part of this political forum. I thank him for all that he has done in encouraging a friendly debate to help Defending the Truth grow.

The first couple of days, I got myself into some pretty heated debates with hevusa. The forum opened only a few weeks prior to his joining, and I was new to debating politics online. Hevusa considered himself to be politically liberal, and I was a conservative Republican. When I look back at the old debates in 2005, I feel regret as I was very harsh on those who did not agree to my views, especially hevusa. 1) Your name is Todd, but you post on the site as "onthefence". Did you choose that name in reference to your stance as a political moderate, or because you were "on the fence" about the site when you started?

It is a definite reference to my political stance. I go left or right depending on the issue.

I can’t even remember if left or right is liberal or conservative, I am
on the fence so I don’t get stuck on one side or the other.

For our first interview here at Defending the Truth, I had the distinct pleasure of being able to interview the founder & owner of Defending the Truth, Jonathan Kingsbury.

Jon is currently a full-time college student living in Massachusetts, which he lovingly refers to as "Taxachusetts". Jon is certainly NOT your average college kid, he is highly motivated, socially & politically conscious and determined. I personally believe he is destined for success and I am proud to call him my friend.
