| Greetin's. Hey there all. I've been looking around the internet for a good, left-right-mix political forum and I suppose I've found one. I'm here for intense debate, fun and friends, and connecting with those who have similar views to mine. I'm a rather talkative type, so my posts will most likely end up being long almost all the time, unless I'm just making a short comment. In debate, though, I can drone on for a quite a bit. Forgive me if I ramble. As far as political views, I'd call myself a Left Apathetic, whatever that really means. I know I'm Left, but I take views from all parts of that side of the spectrum. I've identified in parts with those such as Trotsky, Lenin, even Mao Zedong, Stalin, or Hoxha (though I can't say I truly support those three much), especially Marx and Engels, and some Anarchists such as Bakunin, Goldman, and Chomsky, early Libertarian thinkers such as Proudhon, Syndicalists like Rudolph Rocker and Georges Sorel, and many others. I dunno, I simply think weird I guess. No matter my uncertainty on exact ideology, I am sharply opinionated and will debate for my beliefs always. Personally, I live in Jersey. Nice place, I guess, "where the women are as hot as the pits of toxic waste".... I'm pretty normal I suppose. I'm into Philosophy, Science, and History very much aside from Politics. I enjoy reading pretty much the most out of everything I could possibly do. Knowledge is my favorite tool, and in my opinion the very strongest. My specific interests and things I read the most about are usually Philosophy and Social Science, WWII and Civil War History, Science Fiction as well as regular Science, and other various topics. I love music. METAL. GRINDCORE. THRASH, DEATH, BLACK, ACID. All really heavy and probably socially unacceptable music would strike my fancy. My favorite band is either Killswitch Engage or All That Remains, but I know a lot of other underground stuff, and I also really, really like Dethklok and enjoy watching Metalocalypse. I also like Crust and Hardcore Punk and I like the Misfits a lot. I'm an Atheist, or possibly an Atheist-Leaning Agnostic. I'm generally non-religious though, it doesn't matter to me much. I'm actually baptized Catholic and for a while believed in all of it, but then I simply grew up and out of religion. I also used to hold Right Wing beliefs, though very Democrat or Libertarian (as in, maximum freedom, small government). Things change, I suppose. I think my current set of views are going to stick for a long time though, I've finally come to terms with truly what I believe. Well, I suppose I'll head off into debate and discussion right about now. I hope to have fun and post much. Last edited by Morello; 10-05-2007 at 10:18 PM. | Welcome to the DtT Morello! I think that a fair share of folk here like the same kind of music as you. And whenever someone disagrees with your political leanings, it is a good thing. It either causes you to re-think and perhaps modify your current stand or it further causes you to think out more of the whys you already hold to for your beliefs and you get more settled in to your beliefs. See ya on the forums, OhDear | |||||||||||||||||||||

A few years back, I was working on a project with two young folks — they were in their twenties; I was a little older. It was near Christmastime, and they were talking about some of the heavy metal bands — Led Zeplin; Kiss; and etc. — and some of the concerts they had attended. I listened to them talking back and forth, and the wild names of the bands they had mentioned. Finally, one said to me that I was rather quiet, and what was I thinking. I told them that I thought that when I got home that night I would listen to some Christmas Music by Mannheim Steamroller. They both looked at me in disbelief, and said they never heard of that, and I must be kidding. I laughed it off. But that was exactly what I did when I got home. A few years later I saw one of the participants in that conversation and asked if he ever found out about Mannheim Steamroller. He said no, and still thought that I was pulling their leg. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Welcome to the boards! Glad to have you. I think you'll fit right in.
