I call myself a moderate because I hold views that can be attributed to both right and left: For instance, I support capital punishment AND a woman's right to choose. I support gun rights, but with some common sense restrictions/protections in place. I supported the attack on afghanistan to the point of attempting to re-enlist. I did not support the decision to abandon afghanistan in favor of iraq.

To answer your question: The only aspect of geroge w. bush that I support is his impeachment, removal from office and indictment and subsequent jail time.

He is an aberration. His entire time in office has been a horrible mistake and so far over 3500 of our troops have paid with their lives.

Thank you for sharing Dr. You and I have some very similar views. The disappointment in the Democrats recently...
The wish to see Bush impeached, and if not, then tried for war crimes after he does leave office.
I am not in favor of capital punishment though. And though I understood the military efforts in Afghanistan, and respect others who find military force essential to freedom, I sponsor from my own heart, a complete pacifism.
As to a woman's right to choose. I say Yes. Though my own conviction would not ever allow me to choose abortion, I would not put my personal convictions on others.
So perhaps we will amen each other from time to time, and differ at times too.
That's sweet of you to relocate to be near your daughter and her family. Wishing you all a heck of alot of joy!

I'm sure we will find common ground from time to time and maybe even learn something. Who knows? Thanks for the kind words for my family.

Well, heck-er doodles... guess I never really introduced myself either.

First off, I LOVE this site. Well run, most impressive. On one hand, there's no over-the-top rules of conduct to insulate anybody's feelings from being hurt. But on the other, it's not just an insult-slinging scream-fest... like some forums I've seen.

Anyway, about me, I'm Mark. I just turned 40 (yikes! how the hell did THAT happen?) People tell me I look younger... I know I sure ACT younger... LOL.

I'm divorced about 10 years now, with a pre-teen son and a teenaged son. I live in Wyoming, and have lived in the Rocky Mountain West my whole life, though I've had extended stays in other parts of the country.

I was a newspaper reporter for about 15 years. Now, I work for a publication that's, well.. not a newspaper... LOL.

I practice the Baha'i Religion. Politically.. well, I try to avoid politics. But I describe myself as a "moderate." I see good in both the conservative and liberal sides, but I see much nonsense in the extremes of either.

Well, that's enough rambling for now. Good to meet you all.

Damn you ridin.. your site has given me sleepless nights and greatly affected my ability to work. I am not as frequent a poster as many of the others here, but one of the first things i do every tim ei log on to the net is check out the forum. I sit and read tons of posts and then shoot off a long winded post of my own on occasion.

Anyhow like i said damn you and your brilliantly run forum. It has become more or less an obsession over the past year. My girlfriend and friends are all worried for me. I have explored other forums but always seem to return to this one because of the comparatively civilized nature of debate here.

DTT HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE.. AAAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHH

Hi everyone! The site looks interesting and I'm looking forward to all the great discussions going on here.

I'm from New Jersey and I'm a part time waitress, with a husband and two kids. I love talking about most of the subjects I've seen here and I can't wait to get started.

I have varying political affiliations, as I tend to decide based on the issue, not the party line. But I'm usually labeled by others as a liberal. I would consider myself to be rather moderate or centrist on most issues, which gets me the liberal label by most social conservatives.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome! I've got a lot of reading to do here so...

Waiting Tables,

I really loved your intro and can relate so well. I used to claim myself "APOLITICAL" just to stay out of the fray and show myself a free-thinker in political matters. But quickly my brother relegated me liberal. I now claim liberal and yet, I must qualify that to say that I think I live my life by fairly conservative or at the very least moderate values, socially, morally and fiscally. Yet, when it comes to how I believe the govt ought to lead, usurp and demonstrate itself,Iam quite liberal I suppose.

So you and I will be friends that I am sure. And even know the idea that birds of a feather flock together. As we disclose our political leanings.

Welcome to the DtT and I look forward to being your friend and that we can from time to time support one another in posts as much as challenge each other too, should we believe differently.

Hello and welcome to DTT! I used to live in NJ and miss it at times.

Hello OhDear, akuma and RidinHighSpeeds!

There is so much variety here that I haven't even made a dent in reading some of the threads. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me soon.

OhDear, it sounds like we have some things in common, thanks for your very nice introduction.

Akuma, how long have you been away from N.J.? By your info it looks as though you're in Japan now? That's quite a move!

Thanks again for the welcome RidinHighSpeeds!
