Points: 35,177, Level: 100 | Level up: 2%, 0 Points needed | | Gosh! I forgot to introduce myself! Sorry everyone...even though I developed Defending the Truth, I should have created an introduction so you guys can get to know me better.
My name is Jonathan and I am from Massachusetts. I am currently 21 years of age and I attend the University of Massachusetts Lowell for a bachelors degree in Management Information Systems. I had a tough time in highschool as I was working two jobs because I enjoyed $$$ instead of my education. I changed that vision around and i'm doing rather well in school now. So far I have completed 6 semesters, making Dean's list every semester.
I developed this web site in January 2005 when I was attending the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. Right after the elections, debates at school were getting rather ugly. Considering that I am a moderate Republican, I was making the mistake of getting involved in these debates and it seemed like everyone turned on me. People would throw things, start fights, etc. In my web design class, I decided to make a political debate web site for my project. I got an A- on the project, but you guys should have seen the original design in January 05! Very very horrible! A couple of months later the site picked up and I decided to do a complete overhaul and things just picked up from there.
I am grateful that all of you are apart of Defending the Truth. I used to be a die hard Republican supporting everything they said and stood for (very close-minded) Thanks to the voices of all of you on this web site, I have become more open-minded on issues and I would not consider myself a moderate Republican. (this doesn't mean I will continue to move to the left...)
I really do hope you guys continue to visit on a regular basis because I feel absolutely great when I come home from work to see a lot of activity going on. If any of you ever have a problem, please feel free to contact me via PM or e-mail, or any of the moderators.
I know it's tough sometimes, but I really would like to encourage a more friendly debate here at Defending the Truth. Compared to other political sites, I think there is less hatred exposed here, and more open-minded debates expressed by all of you to defend what you believe is the truth.
If you would like to see Defending the Truth grow, please feel free to invite your friends! I will be adding a new credit system this week where it will make it easier for you to refer people.
Again, thank you for choosing Defending the Truth!
Your Administrator and friend,
Jonathan |

Just kidding.
I already feel like I know you a little from all the time I've been on this web site and I think you're doing an awesome job with it. I have had no formal debate training and I really enjoy coming on here and learning about the different points of view out there on all sorts of important issues that we face today as individuals, a country and the world, and having the chance to voice my own opinions on these things.
Really, I have learned to take a deeper look at why I stand where I do on the issues. Is it justified? If it is, then I must defend my position, defend the truth.
I do hope you well in the future.

I am hoping someday we all can have an official Defending the Truth meet. That would be pretty cool! |

Seriously though, great job here. I voted for the old set up but since becoming adapted to this one I think it's better. Quote: |

| Funny how passionate people get over something like political affiliation. Quote: |

Sorry if I've been a little sour lately. I'll work on that. It is more freindly than other sites and I'm sorry if I have subtracted from that. Quote: |

I'll tell ya one thing, I am crazy over all living things. When I was very little, I used to watch ants outside in my driveway, or in NH when we were camping. I also always find myself watching the animal planet on tv. I've just been so fascinated by all living things.
I am very happy that you and teethandclaws spend so much time to help out all living things. |

I am very happy that you and teethandclaws spend so much time to help out all living things. | You know what's funny. I was with a bunch of friends at one of my freind's ranch during a break at school. He grew up in this area - Middle of Nowhere, Colorado (not literally, the town was called Silt) but I mean as a kid who grew up in the suburbs outside of a major city, I always wondered driving through towns like that "what would it be like to live there?" Well I got some insight, but walking around we saw a lot of things that were seemingly abnormal to suburb/city kids, but perfectly normal to him. Recently killed animals (big dead deer all torn to shit by coyotes - so weird to inspect for me) and stuff like that. We came upon a giant ant hill. We were checkin it out watching all of the ants work and stuff. Then he was like "yeah you know I just like to destroy a little bit and see what they do to react". He kicked off a little of the mound, exposing a large hole. Instantly a thousand ants were working to repair the hill. He said there would be various ant hills on his long walk to his bus stop (school 45 minutes away) that he would keep tabs on throughout the week. I was jealous. We were also all on drugs when this happened, but I guess it's a little beside the point. I guess I'm trying to spare a little dignity for being jealous about an anthill.

Level up: 29%, 37 Points needed | | The more I visit your site, Ridin', the more I love it. I have definitely seen a more 'civilized' manner of arguing, er ... debating here, and I like the atmosphere you have forged. |
