I am 26, and live in Philly. I am currently serving out the remaining two years on my enlistment in the Navy. I'll be a couple months shy of 10 years enlisted when I get out.
I disagree with many, many things going on with the current administration, but I feel that it is more important for me to finish what I promised to do than for me to just leave to follow my own agenda. Scarface said it best- "All I have in this world is my balls, and my word, and I don't break 'em for nobody..."
I am a pacifist for the most part, and a vegetarian most of the time (I have meat binges, sometimes lasting for months)
I am a firm believer that all men are not created equal, but that all should be treated equally.
I think that political decisions should be made with the greater good in mind, but I think that sometimes politicians forget that the world does not stop at America's borders. There are close to seven billion people in the world. 295 million americans do not make a majority.
I think that most, if not all of the worlds problems stem from selfishness, and lack of compassion. (there are exceptions of course, tsunamis and the like, etc...)
Anyhow, I'll get off my manifesto box now.
I'm a big music fan, but my hands down all time favorites are; Devo, The Locust, The Reverend Horton Heat, and Guns N' Roses.
Also a big movie fan and the all timers are; The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Big Lebowski, Ichi the Killer, Dr. Strangelove, Metropolis, Cabin Boy (when drunk), and Dune (the David Lynch one).
I found this site from a random post somewhere, and liked what I saw. I love the debate, and the interaction with those I'd never normally talk to.

actually, since no one was looking I was burning a pile of tires and throwing styrofoam big mac boxes out of my car window.

I have not been posting much lately, mostly due to the fact that I have been frustrated by a lack of maturity from a number of people, bitchy and needlessly argumentative posts, the inability of a topic to make it past it's first page "on topic", among other more petty complaints.

My first post here was http://www.defendingthetruth.com/vie...highlight=#869 , in which I summed up everything I hate about the ultra polarized political climate, and people's unwillingness to get along. When I read these forums now, I'm just seeing a lot of the same.

Maybe I just need a break, I'm going on vacation next week, and I'll be gone for about 2 weeks. I may feel differently when I return.

My highest congtatulations to Jon, you've created a world class site, that has provided countless hours of entertainment. Keep up the good work, but for the sake of others that may be starting to feel the same way as me, you should crack down harder on knuckleheadery. (yes, I just made that word up)

I hope you will return. I don't think it's as bad as you make it sound, but I may be wrong. However, I also know that you tend to take things WAY too seriously.

We have been discussing this in the moderators forum a bit. I am hopeful that you will return, you add a valued and unique perspective...
