So yeah, I'm sorry for any misunderstanding I may have caused.

By the way, I found the German class vs. French class anecdote really amusing. Unfortunately, I took Spanish so there was no one to fight...except the Americans.
Great to have you here. You hear that Katz and Hevusa? She has lived under socialism and knows the horrors. Tell us again how wonderful it is. I can't hear enough.

The reason they are so excited is because we actually only have two other women on this board. I'm biologically female, but transgendered, so maybe two and a half.

Otherwise, this board is quite the sausage-fest.

Oh, and high-five between people who are anti-socialist but have lived under socialist systems (I used to be Canadian.) That is, if you're not too conservative to touch my hand. I'm conservative too, but of the libertarian brand. Barry Goldwater is my homeboy.

Pfft. Because, you know, the Civil Rights Act was such a horrible thing.

Goldwater did support some good libertarian views, but he represented the wanting of continued oppression of African-Americans.

Oppression and freedom are funny things. A man who wishes to rent his house to the person of his choice is freedom. To the black man being denied it is oppression. Depends on which side you are on doesn't it. I've been discriminated by blacks. Where do I file my complaint? Aint gonna happen and you know it.

Republicans carried the Civil Rights Act after democrats filibustered their asses off. One of them still sits in the senate and said he has known "white niggers". He still has his seat in the senate. Why don't you wonderful dems tell him to resign? Never.

This republican president has appointed the first black man as Secretary of State and the first black woman as secretary of State. Your wonderful Bill Clinton had 8 years after receiving a lot more black votes than Bush? What's the problem?

Goldwater wasn't racist. He just had a different idea on how to achieve equality. I agree that it might have been the wrong idea, but he was nothing if not consistant. He did not want the federal government meddling in what he considered to be state affairs.

He was also pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-gun, pro-free trade, and anti-communist. I think it's pretty clear why I like the guy, given my political beliefs, and regarding the last three, pretty clear why you don't.

You're not helping either when you assume that I would disagree with Goldwater on those last three positions. Something absurd and apparently without merit.

Although how you worded some, I wouldn't support and I don't know if too many would. Obviously as a heterosexual I'm not "pro-gay", I am however in support of giving gay people the ability to get married. I'm also not "pro-gun", but I am however in support of gun rights, and people's freedom to have such things.
