| Greetings Had an introduction done and then the computer went wonky...Must be the Irish in me. So now I've got to start all over. Dang it all to heck! Hello, I'm Alicorn's Prayer. I'm female (as if my name isn't clue enough) and my 40th birthday is right around the corner. There are many faces here I recognize. Some are from the Yahoo boards I frequent, while others are names I haven't seen in a long time during my internet travels. There are as well, many unknown faces of which I look forward to becoming acquainted with in the future. I so enjoy meeting new people myself, how about you? I'm happily married to the love of my life, that believe it or not I met on-line nearly 7 years ago. We were handfasted 5 and 1/2 years ago when I ventured up to Canada to spend time with him, then civily married now almost 5 years after he ventured here to spend time with me as well. There was no way I was going almost another 6 months without being with my hubby, so he stayed and last year his immigration application was approved finally. I have two young adult sons. One's almost 21, the other just turned 18. Now they were deffinately my first true loves and I've considered it an honor to have raised them by myself. Not that it was easy or there weren't times I was wondering why...But all in all they've been my reason for being. Our home almost resembles a petting zoo. But admission is free. We're proud adoptive parents of 3 dogs and a puppy, 2 cats, 2 ferrits, and 2 anolles. On occassion, we claim fame to being foster parents for wild animals recovering injuries, so please don't feel surprised if on occasion I mention water fowl antics, wild birds/falcons, raccoons, possumes, snakes, or other strange and exotic creatures. It's just discouraging hubby from rescuing the poisonous types... I have many intrests. My main intrest and crafty persuit though is religious gemstone prayer chains and rosaries as well as personal jewelry wear. I also enjoy making all natural beauty products such as bath scrubs, soaps, lotions, and oils. Along with making personalize items and tools for those looking for hand crafted spiritual items. Although my main job is that of home maker, I also sell my wares on-line to those interested, as well as sell door to door or word of mouth out of area shops. My other intrests include, but are not limited to:cooking, sewing, reading, writing, religious studies and theology, gardening, fishing, and the outdoors. I also enjoy learning new skills and crafts as a way to artistically express myself. If I haven't made it abundantly clear yet with my sublet mentionings, I'm a Pagan Spiritualist. This is not to be confused with Witch Craft or Satanism, or the practicing there of. I see the connections and similarities within all beliefs. I just prescribe to a much more simplier way of expressing my personal connection to the Divine without the need to prescribe a set image, gender, or general consceinces of opinion to a very personal practice and understanding. And no...I was never a Christian, so saying that I 'lost god and turned to Paganism' doesn't apply to me. Yes, I did attend church as a child. But only as a way to educate myself through the diverse practices of my own family members. So I've attended different denominations over the years, but never in search of a God, because for me the Divine has always lived in me from my first breath. And I am equally grateful and thankful for the clergy I've encountered, that supported my personal choices and agree with me that I'm doing the Divine's will and that those that would think it 'the devil's work' really don't know just how diverse the Divine is itself.... Now, on to what my name means (this is for you OD)... My name is the embracing of my totem animal spirit. The alicorn is a very special creature, embraced both in mythology and early Christianity as a creature of the Divine. The alicorn represents purity of spirity, of hope, and eternal life. The alicorn was believed to have been the messenger of the Divine, and would only appear unto those that were directed by the Divine's hand. The alicorn was believed to not only heal all diseases, but was also believed to have power over death, bring the dead back to life. It endowed it's charges with strength, purity of heart, hope, and ever lasting life. For me, choosing the alicorn not only as my sacred symbol and guide, I am also hoping that what it represents can live through me and that I am willing to accept that I pursue life as the Divine has created me for. And that the hope the Divine directs through me, may also bring hope to those that know me and inspire them as well to live spreading hope. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| ROTFLMAOL!!! Gary, I know that your useage of "y'all" and 'Ali-may' are intended to remind me that you only consider me a hick and unworthy of other's welcomes or that my humble roots are supposedly beneath your approval... Child, note this well...Where you enjoy using those as ways to try and belittle me, I've always embraced and enjoyed being a red neck...So those weak attempts of yours as using "y'all" and "Ali-may" in no way makes me feel less about myself. Quite the opposite in fact. I happen to take great pride in being southern and of being a country girl personally. So, even though your 'welcome' was intended to inspire hurt and rejection by yourself towards me...I accept your 'welcome' in the spirit that I'm proud of my heritage and my humble beginnings. Unlike you, I don't strive to be better then others. I aspire just to be a better person for those I respect and those that respect me in turn. And that you will never be able to belittle or cause me reason to believe in myself less. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Alicorns Prayer, I totally welcome you as a friend, as a sister. For I am very certain we will grow together and find ourselves identified by those. I may well in topical threads call you AP from time to time if that is okay. Heck I call myself OD though it is really OhDear. I am so happy for you to have so much right in your life. And to know love. I am interested, how long did you know your online love, now husband, before meeting in person and how long before you knew to make the commitment? Would you mind sharing that info? If you do, that is quite all right. I am only wondering. I have a dear friend at my 360 who is Bethsage. She is pagan too. What a heart of gold and a spirit free and boundless. I love her energy and am sure to love yours too, love you... OD | |||||||||||||||||||||

I just hope you don't live to regret it. I'm a happy spirit, but an opinionated one as well. I knew my hubby over a year before we met. Hubby was actually introduced to me through one of his family members whom I'd been talking to for about 6 months. His nephew and wife were members of a chatroom I frequented and told him they knew 'the perfect person' for him to meet. Hubby wanted to meet me anyways to make sure I wasn't a charletan looking to use them...And it was love from that moment for the both of us, although we spent the next 10 months dancing around one another, both of us determined not to become one of those 'internet relationships' you hear about in the media. But once we both acknowledged the deep feelings for one another (everyone seemed to know well before we admitted it), literally there was no keeping us apart. And on our first actual face to face meeting, we just both knew and recognized our other half and there was no hesitation in blending our lives into one as husband and wife. We were handfasted the following day (Novermber 11th) with his family attending and blessing our marriage. Our main obsticle though, was the fact we lived almost 2,000 miles apart. So, when he came down here to visit, when it came time for him to leave for Canada 2 months later, we went to immigration to see about how to allow him to stay legally. I couldn't leave, due to obligations where my young sons were concerned and family here. Our handfasting isn't recognized by the US at this moment (although it is in the part of Canada the ceremony was performed), so immigration said that since we already considered ourselves hubby and wife, then all we needed was to get civily married by US laws, then 'only fill out a bit of paperwork'... A cratefull of paperwork, 5 years later, and $15,000 in filing fees and he can legally stay here now as my husband. ROTFLMAOL!!! We do intend to redo the handfasting ceremony on our 10th anniversary. This way, we can celebrate our vows with both sides of the family present and with all the pomp that wasn't present in the other two. We're planning on doing it with an Irish theme (kilts and family colors as we're both of Irish decent), with a friend doing the honors that's a high priestess, and the grand party afterwards. Personally? I'd happily remarry my hubby each day if it was possible. Loving him is a celebration of itself in my opinion. Goodness, I'm a love sotted romantic.
