I'm actually known as Mark.B, scrotnig is a name I use on some other sites and the word actually comes from the UK comic "2000AD". It's meant to be Betelgeusian for "excellent"....ahem.

I jointly own and administer the BC FORUMS which is a vBulletin-based site just as this one is.

I came here because we're looking to move servers, and our selected potential new server happens to be the same one DefendingTheTruth is hosted on, so I came in originally to see how the server runs before we actually bought the hosting space on it. Since then I've been having a look at some of the discussions and it's a good site.

Some of your chaps have come to see us and some of ours have come to see yours, which is great.

So far we have had some good discussions. Please do let me know which host you decide to go with. Forgot to tell you, but last year I narrowed everything down to WireNine and Dreamhost. The only problem I had with dreamhost is the performance of web sites which were database driven. It took quite awhile to load the forums...which is something I cannot have. So I went with WireNine, and it's been fast ever since

I am also happy that DtT members have chosen to check out and sign up at BC Forums. My goal for DtT would be to have the site prosper much like his. I think the best thing for this web site would be to reach members Globally. Most of the members here are from the U.S. I would love to hear the political opinions of members from around the world.

I think you made the right decision there...Dreamhost have a poor reputation when it comes to vBulletin based sites. There's a lot about them on the vB support forums.

I suspect we'll switch to Wirenine. I am just hanging fire for now, partly to monitor the server and partly because the actual process of switching is something of a mega-pain, there being about 24 hours when users might end up on the "wrong" copy of the board.

I agree completely. It's win-win and will enhance both boards. Do you have a link to the BC board?

I don't think you've done too bad a job so far to be honest, it seems quite brisk on here with plenty going on.

I just registered. I'm waiting on approval. I take it the your board has a limit to the characters in a user ID. I had to register as pensacola_nice.
