Yes, being "in love" is a very emotional state.

But is true respect an emotion?

To my mind, respect is a combination of emotion and thought. One can definitely "feel" a surge of respect but those feelings are usually (perhaps always) based on a knowledge of the character of the person or other entity for which one feels that respect.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this. That's why I support the Pickens Plan. It would certainly sell well, I would think.
Sedatives, or an anti-anxiety med such as Xanax?

A friend of mines shrink feels that everyone should have a couple of grams of Xanax on hand for emergencies. That's my kind of shrink.

I need Xanax when I go up in an airplane.

Something about being in an aluminum tube going 500 miles per hour 30,000 feet in the air just freaks me out.

I think that's a fair assesment.

Oh Mr. Jaggers, I hope this did not happen to YOU.
As the song says, it was a love T.K.O.

Again, you're confusing the hormonally-charged state of being "in love" with actually loving (respecting) another person.

As far as "first love" being the be-all, end-all.. maybe for some. But not really for me. I always had a tendancy to develop "crushes".. which were almost never mutal. But I was never really "in love" with somebody until I was almost 37 years old.

So, perhaps because my "first love" came along so late in my life, I can think of about 1,000 other things that have left a bigger impression on me.

Watching my son being born, for example. Or the first time I ever got really, really stoned... experiences I've had in the wilderness. Being consumed with the presense of God... next to these and many others.. that whole "first love' thing comes up pretty short. For me, at least.

So to summarise what you are saying:

Men like sex and women like money.

Isn't this a rather cynical view Jaggers?

That is because flying IS NOT POSSIBLE! Don't give me BS about 'lift and thrust'. There is no way in hell you are keeping that much metal up in the air and under control for any length of time. They are actually launching you with a big rubber band in the direction you want to go, and the rest is controlled falling! The scenery you see out your window, is a hologram in the glass!

It's all a giant conspiracy!

What's wrong with lifting and thrusting? Some of my most memorable times have involved those two activities.

It all depends on what is being lifted and thrusted.
