According to The State of Our Unions 2005, a report issued by the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University, 8.1% of coupled households consist of unmarried heterosexual partners.

The same study said that only 63% of American children grow up with both biological parents -- the lowest figure in the Western world.


As of 2003, 43.7% of custodial mothers and 56.2% of custodial fathers were either separated or divorced. And in 2002, 7.8 million Americans paid about $40 billion in child and/or spousal support (84% of the payers were male).

The traditional family is under attack.

No wonder crime rates, gang membership and suicide rates are increasing.

Doesn't surprise me that much, although I am surprised that only 8.1% of couples living together are unmarried, as I had assume it would be much higher.

The family unit started to break down following the establishment of the Social Security Act. The Women's Liberation movement then took the broken pieces and threw them against the street. Then came rock and roll and the Hollywood media influence that put traditional marriage in the blender.

From all of the above I'd as women were their worst enemy since they are less liberated today than any time in history.

All I can say is that I've been married 16 years. I have a 13 year old daughter. AND, she will have a mother and father as long as we both shall live. I miss her very badly being here in Iraq.
