Bear in mind the context of this thread - we tolerate the mentally ill but we don't trust them to raise children

most people with a mental illness and children are raising their own children just fine. society takes over when children are being failed by their parents. this happens in those without mental illness as much as those with.

A woman who is so screwed up she mutilates her body to pretend she's a man, and then decides to have a baby via AI and pretends to be married to some other gal - yes that's a freak show and anything but stable !!

what information do you have to say they are not a stable couple ? are they planning to separate ? are they providing a home without love and support ? are they incapable of providing materially and emotionally for their child ? what is your justification for calling them unstable ?

i guess the media did its job well with you, garysher. as i said before, these issues are old. gender reassignment surgery is well established and the reasons for it also well established. assisted conception was developed decades ago and has been used in countless couples for countess reasons. their relationship is hetersexual (male and female, like you always say you prefer) their marriage and stability appears to be good, by their report. once again, these issues have not appeared in this particular combination in the past, but the issues are old. it is no more a freak show than say a lapsed catholic priest marrying a muslim ex prostitute. great headlines for the tabloids, but not much substance. and nothing that makes a comment on their personal lives today.

Don't you draw the line somewhere?

As I stated previously, most people draw the line somewhere. There seems to be a larger audience on this board that think that people should have the blessing to do anything they want. And, demand their constitutional rights to do so.

Gay marriage? Fine. Gay adoption? Fine. Even transgendered - not fine, but none of my business.

A "man" having a baby? I draw the line there. You've now taken a child into very uncharted territory. If you want to say "there always has to be a first time", I say not in this case.

Before the trumpets start blaring, if you think it's OK, that is your perrogative.

I would be a bit concerned with the mental well-being of this "man." The media circus that will carry with him is bound to have some effect on the child. It's all too freaky for me.
