Here is a link to a little, who cares kinda news...

Still I would not discount the value at all of the Girl Scouts. Though I myself was a Bluebird/ Campfire girl back in the day. Just as positive a program I would guess. Here in my local community there was going to be a Special Girl Scouts group for the developmentally disabled girls, but so far as I know, it never got organized. I think that is something though to look at for the expansion of the Girl/Boy Scouts as a viable means to further raise awareness of the sameness of all children, yet making a special place to deal with the differences.

All the same, here's to Dolly Parton...

Dolly Parton is a country music singer, songwriter, movie star, amusement park owner and philanthropist. Now she's a Girl Scout, too.

Parton, who turned 60 this year, was named a lifetime member of Girls Scouts of Tanasi Council during a presentation before 1,000 Girl Scouts at her Dollywood theme park this evening.
"While I was never a Girl Scout myself when I was a kid, I always wanted to be," Parton said in a statement. "This great honor lets me live out a dream and to be part of an organization that stands for many of the same values I do and Dollywood does."
Parton accepted a lifetime membership pin and led the audience in the Girl Scout Promise.
Then she honored 28 girls who received the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts.
"Dolly realizes the importance of a program that helps girls grow into young women of courage and confidence," said Glenda McCarter-Johnson, board chair of Girl Scouts of Tanasi council and Parton's childhood friend. "She wants to let these girls know just how much they are appreciated for the work they do for the community." The Tanasi Council has 10,000 members in 16 East Tennessee counties.

It's better late then never. Congrats for Dolly!!!

I still have my sashes from the brownies and girlscouts myself. If this baby is a girl, I'd like to think she'd want to join herself. But that will soley be her decision. If she does though, the nice thing is that we can do it together.

No. She'll inspire the girls by showing them that even if you come from nothing, you can become anything you set your mind to.

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

Are you trying to tell me that it is more important to inspire young girls to succeed than to have huge tits? I think not!
