| Citizen Kane the best movie ... ? Recently, Citizen Kane was voted the #1 in the best 100 movies ... . Do you think there's a better movie for this honor? If so, which one? Why? "Work is the curse of the drinking classes." Oscar Wilde | |||||||||||||||||||||

| It's been considered number one for ever. I mean, I guess it was innovative but I don't personally understand why it's considered better than all of the other undoubtedly better classics. I don't know, I guess 2001: A Space Odyssey probably deserves number one more. I guess Laurence of Arabia and The Godfather are up there too, though I doubt good enough to claim number one. On my personal list, The Fountain deserves number one...but it's so new and it's relatively indy that the movie geeks would have my head for nominating it. I think there seems to be an underemphasis on indy films. I mean, I think Darren Aronofsky is a better film maker than Stanley Kubrick in many regards. | I think "Citizen Kane" deserves #1. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. | Oh, a listing of the "greatest films" in any order of "greatness" is bound to be very subjective. There are certainly so many "great" films out there. But, calling any one of those films the "#1 greatest film" is like calling blue the greatest color. So, I'll just list one of my most favorite films: "Modern Times", by Charlie Chaplin. I find this film to be very entertaining from beginning to end. And, it is a very funny film. | |||||||||||||||||||||
