Ali and CF; you both are to be commended on your views. All too often today, the video game industry have usurped the important roles of "family"and "learning". Too many children are spending three to five (and even more) hours engrossed in these things that take away the time we as parents need to be using as valuable time with our children.
Before I was divorced, I insisted upon this family time. And I'm proud to say that I have no regrets as to why I did.
We also had a thing called "movie night".We had picked a movie or television program early in the week that we all would watch after dinner. When my son was very young, this was usually a Disney movie that he picked out, and me and the then-wife could watch something else after my son was put in bed for the night.
I apologize for the sermon. Getting back to the thread; I love to watch the cooking programs on weekends. I sometimes get great ideas from them. Now, I also liked the ballroom dancing shows. It was always something I wanted to learn for myself.
