I wouldn't even consider going to that movie, or reading the book.

The book was really a good read. I like Brown's style of writing. Good voice. Good character development.

In the end, I think that people's imaginations - while reading - are more powerful and satisfying than any movie can be.

I think Tom Hanks is a wounderful actor, although I can't say I could think of anyone else that might fill the part more. I'm actually reading The Da Vinci Code right now and its alright. I personally like his other novels a little bit more; I thought Deception Point was really good. I think the Da Vinci Code just gets more credit because it sparks talk and debate even if its fiction.

I'm personally let down. Seeing as it has two of some of my favorite actors: Tom Hanks and Ian Mckellen. Not to mention I'm pretty surprised. Because Dan Brown books aren't really that great literature in the sense of imagery and description, and they're really light reads and read like actual movies. How they were able to screw it up, I don't know. But I probably should see the movie before I judge it.

Not to mention Dan Brown really gets pretty desperate for plot twists, and ends up just making himself look stupid. For instance, in the Da Vinci Code, I believe there is this plot scheme where if someone opens a certain object which has an important document in it without the correct code, a container of acid breaks and destroys the document. But all someone would have to do is freeze it so the acid doesn't spill onto the paper; too bad Dan Brown didn't have common sense. At least that's what I heard...I havn't gotten that far into the novel yet. So I probably should be shutting up.

You'd probably like Angels & Demons better than DaVinci Code.

Would you like me to tell you how both of them end?

Angels & Demons was a really good read and had a bit more than Da Vinci. I was still sucked up a lot more by the Da Vinci Code though. The problem with A&D is that it was even more far-fetched than Da Vinci. Anytime somebody falls out of a helicopter and survives with a make-shift parachute you know that an author has written themselves into an incredible hole.
But it don't take much to get me by
So just booze me up and get me high

I thought his voice and style were cheap, and his character development was exceptionally poor. Then again, I'm a literary snob. I also don't like Stephen King, Tom Clancy, etc.

It might not be the best book in the world but to bring it down to Stephen King and Clancy... how cruel!

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Fortunately I havn't wasted my time with Stephen King. But I tend to agree with your assessment of Tom Clancy. He usually has really poorly developed characters. His only decent book I read was Red Storm Rising, and even that was co-written. A better author in the military techno-thrillers is Larry Bond; better characters and better developed plot lines. Although he can be kind of bad too.
