Thanks. We were not that close, but it was hard for Mrs. Alias of course.

Can you explain why most Fortune 500 companies adopt policies against gay discrimination then???

Over and over again, you just make stuff up as you go along as its convenient for you. No real knowledge, so you just claim things that you don't prove.

I would like to thank you all for your kind words. Alias, I am also sorry for your loss.

Honestly, we have no idea why he did it. I got a call when I was in my freshman year of highschool that my youngest stepbrother (of 3) ran an exhaust hose into his car and took his own life. He was a very bright kid with many friends and he wanted to start his own landscaping company upon graduation at his highschool. A couple thousand students who knew him attended his funeral. It was possible the worst year for our family...

But I don't think it was a mental illness that caused it. He did drink a lot with his friends, but that's normal in my opinion. Could alcohol have caused him something to do something like that...sure. But we honestly don't know..

Thank you for caring.

I don't know of any and neither do you so that means none.

Yes, I can explain why fortune 500 companies do that, because it's the law.

I've been sad, but I never wanted to kill myself. People can have mental problems without them being evident.

No. It means we don't know.
Do you know of any black CEOs?
I don't either.

Guess that must mean there aren't any...

Actually, no.
It isn't law.
Most states don't have any laws requiring companies to not fire gay people just because they are gay.
Only a few states have any laws requiring recognition of "domestic partnership" or similar issues. Most do not, but companies do it anyways because they know it's GOOD for business.

THAT is the point.

And you avoided my question, as predicted...
Can you show that she was suicidal WHEN she was HIRED???

Of course there are black CEO's. You keep trying to put homos in the same class as a race. Homos are not a race.

I disagree with your statement that companies can fire homos because they are homos. You cannot do that in this country. Tell me the states where you can.

Geesh! Do your homework, Alias. If you search in Google for:
anti discrimination laws by state

the first hit that is not a news site is:
State by State: Anti-Discrimination Law

which according to their mission statement on the About Lambda Legal page states: "Mission Statement: Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work."

So in my opinion, they should know which states protect workers. A look at the map says that only the green or green shaded states have such laws. Clicking on the state gives you the information. For example, Texas has no laws for Employment Protections:
Quote:
Statewide private employment protections based on sexual orientation? No
Statewide private employment protections based on gender identity? No
Are state employees protected from sexual orientation discrimination? No

See Tex. Lab. Code § 21.051 (2002) and Tex. Prop. Code § 301.021 et seq. (2002)
There is also a link to a map for only Employment Protections. I count 24 states that still discriminate - that's roughly half of the US!

Well then, I would suggest that if homos feel that they are being discriminated against, they should move to a state that has laws that favor them. That's the great thing about The United States. What a wonderful country.

Exactly. After prohibition, some states had wet counties and dry counties. I think they still do. That sounds reasonable to me. The people in thier locale can decide what they want to do and it keeps big brother from forcing people to do what others want. That is wonderful.

I'm sure a lot of the homos are not satisfied with that though. Most of them I talk to want to force you to accept their perversion.
