What I love about these arguments is that their central point is that the publication of this information "hurts us and helps the enemy". The only problem is that they all rest on the assumption that terrorists did not and would never know about such surveillance techniques unless the New York Times printed them. You have to be a fool to believe that, a fool that knows nothing about terrorists.

Serious, it has long be published that the government has been actively monitoring and trying to freeze terrorist assets.
When the president talks to God
Do they drink near beer and go play golf
While they pick which countries to invade
Which Muslim souls still can be saved?
I guess god just calls a spade a spade

The presidents never used to have to get warrants until this crazy law was passed during Carter's administration. I know my history a little better than you think.

Only a fool would assume that the U.S. government is on the look out for any sort of lead about a possible terrorist threat. Yeah, post 9/11 that does sound like an assanine assumption.

I didn't make this assumption. It's not an assumption; it's my assesment of what terrorists would know and not know based on what I know about them. Almost everything I know about them comes from taking an entire class dedicated to studying terrorism at college.

Now tell me, oh enlightened one, what can you offer other than a completely irrational statement with no backup?

That is why I said current law!!! Can you give me one reason why the current law is not sufficient? Can you explain to me one situation where obtaining a warrant under current law would make the country less safe?

I can't believe you actually stated that only a fool would assume the US government is on the look out for any sort of lead about a possible terrorist threat. They most certainly are. I'm sure you are now an expert after taking a college course on terrorism. Why hasn't the government come knocking on your door and given you a job instead of wasting your time debating with ignorant hillbillies like me?????????

I wouldn't go around bragging about how much you now know about terrorism because you took a college class on it. You probably learned more about how bad America is than about terrorism if you took a college course on it. Colleges are full of educated dummies educating other educated dummies. Your teacher wasn't named Churchill was he?

I am in College and can personally attest that I have had many many conservative professors. It is such a cop out to just whine and saw colleges are all liberal.

1. You obviously can not detect sarcasm. I understand this is written word and that poses challenges, yet it is still obvious enough that I was being 100% sarcastic when I said that.

2. for the idiots out there(BEGIN SARCASM) Yes, you're right, because that is exactly what I was trying to say. I am an expert on terrorism because I took one college class about it. (END SARCASM) I'm not surprised that you thought that. You are very simple minded and that's a natural reaction. I wanted to make the distinction that it is not just my "fools opinion" but rather, as I said, my assesment (it's still my opinion you dolt) of terrorists and what they do and do not know based on the studying, reading, and discussions during this particular class I took. I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to one-up you or something. We're not in Fourth Grade here, I'm not trying to be better than you. I simply challenged your opinion and called it out for being based on nothing, whereas my opinion at least is based on academic study of the subject.

3. I know I've already addressed this, but once again, you're simple minded behavior at its finest.

4. You know what, you're probably right..considering you were there and everything, read the books, took the class. It doesn't seem like you went to college. Not just cause you're an idiot but you seem to have no appreciation for what it is and what it does for people, you mainly focus on conservative propaganda that tells you colleges everywhere are teaching their students that America is bad and they should hate it. Just so you know, the first assigned book for that class was written by a conservative and it was about AMEIRCAN PRIMACY. (you can look primacy up on dictionary.com big guy)

5. It's hard to just hand this award out to you, but this might be the dumbest thing you have ever written. "Educated dummies"...DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN OXYMORON IS? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I don't know when it was that people started thinking that education does not make you smarter. Apparently the idea has festered and spread within the idiot community of America.

No, I am not an idiot, but I do know a few things about terrorists and Islam. Don't make the mistake of me speaking directly and pointedly that that makes me simple minded. I am direct and to the point. If I chose to waste space and time, I could make just as flowery wordy messages like others.

Let me get this straight. Do you really think Ward Churchill is a good guy or was that more sarcasm.
