Alias wants to talk about the SUBSTANCE that was presented instead of just making inane side-comments.

If only Alias could learn that listen FOR HIS OWN posting style, maybe discussions could get somewhere.

Actually, I'm going to have to agree with most of what she had to say. But I think she's pretty biased an only paints a small portion of the big picture. She attempts to solidify her argument that Muslims are backward by ancient and medieval texts written by Muslims. Well, she's right, many were locked in a ignorant war of religion...but that's the thing, so were the Christians of Europe. It was the Pope who started the crusades, not the Muslims. Christians wrote about how "inferior" the Muslims were and how the "infidel" needed to be exterminated.

She's right in recognizing the barbarity of some extremist Muslim groups. But unfortunately, her argument that it is the "western culture" vs. "backward Islam" falls apart when you take into consideration that the United States and its allies support and deal trillions with Saudi Arabia, which is a country that practices all of the things she listed as barbaric and backward (decapitations, subjugation of women, etc.,etc.) It also falls apart when you take into consideration Christian extremist groups who condone the same sort of things, and even do the same sort of terror attacks (bombings of abortion clinics to name just one).

But I believe she is a good woman and we need more of people like her. I laughed when the religious man called her a heretic when she said she was a secular human being who doesn't believe in the supernatural.

I also disagree with what she had to say about Jews never using terror tactics like Muslim extremists have. They might not blow themselves up in a market, but they (at least extremist Israelis, not necissarily Jews) drop missiles, bombs, and artillery on civilian targets; and end up killing more people than suicide-bomber tactics.

But I think this is a re-post.
