I support the right to do it, but I don't think it makes any sense to do it, and beyond just blindly showing emotion, it accomplishes nothing.

It shows people that you're pissed off at America, it gets some Americans pissed off at you, and the only thing it does is polarize people on the issue.
Nobody's opinions are changed. Nobody understands the other side better.

It accomplishes nothing.

(Wayyyyyy off topic, but I just had to throw that in...)

It also shows the enemy that you sympathize with them by doing the same thing they do in the streets.

Still yapping at my heels, are you...

HOW does that show I "sympathize with the enemy"?

Okay, let me rephrase it. It gives the American who burns the flag a commonality with the enemy. It would show you both disdain the American flag. That is sympathizing. Not "you" personally. Is that better?

Do you comprehend what "you" means?

you:
1 : the one or ones being addressed -- used as the pronoun of the second person singular or plural in any grammatical relation except that of a possessive <you may sit in that chair> <you are my friends> <can I pour you a cup of tea> -- used formerly only as a plural pronoun of the second person in the dative or accusative case as direct or indirect object of a verb or as object of a preposition; compare THEE, THOU, YE, YOUR, YOURS
2 : ONE 2a <after a while, it grows on you>

To provide a clue for the clueless, if you aren't including me in the subject group you are talking about, do not use the word "you".

For example: "Okay, let me rephrase it. It gives the American who burns the flag a commonality with the enemy. It would show that THAT American and the enemy both disdain the American flag."

From this moment on I will refer to you as foundit when I mean you specifically. That way, you can ignore it when I use the word "you".

1) I'm sorry. Was the second sentence talking to me or not...

2) Let me put this in certain terms that hopefully not even you (do I mean "you") can understand.

If you (alias) respond to me in a post, and you (alias) say "you", it is English language interpretation that you, alias, are including me in whatever you, alias, are referring to.

Just out of curiousity, are you (alias) part of the crowd that state people should have to be able to speak English in this country?
Because I would find that hilarious...

Yes, I think everyone should learn to speak English in this country. People came to this country from all over the world for years and years and we never had to print everything in 2 or 3 languages. If you want to live in America learn the language or move on.

We live in the United States of America, a nation of immigrants, not England. We don't have a national language. Just because English is the majority, doesn't mean people should be forced to learn it if they want to live in the United States. Just so long as they understand that if they don't learn English then they probably wont have that great of a chance of being successful or getting a job. But that doesn't mean that English should be compulsory.

Take your own advice and learn how to use the word "you".

Or, for what I suspect is a more accurate assessment, learn how to be a man and own up to your mistakes...

Immigrants came to this country since it's beginning and everyone learned English. They were proud to be Americans and proud to learn the language. English was the language of our nation whether it was official or not. If someone can't learn the language after coming to live here, I have no time for them.
