Meat doesn't make you fat any more than anything else. Carbs make you fat. Eat a lot of pasta and you'll be fat. PETA......People Eating Tasty Animals.

I LOVE hearing people scream about all these "growth hormones" supposedly being injected into livestock.

But the people doing the screaming are ALWAYS people who wouldn't know the back end of a cow from the front of a pig - people who have never even seen a live animal.

I've got family, and a lot of friends, in farming. They laugh every time they hear about these "growth hormones". They don't even know what they're supposed to be. But one thing they ARE sure of is that they NEVER use them!

Urban idiots & their growth hormone conspiracy theories...

The pile of rhetoric you produce is amazing. "Well my neighbor Jed said his cattle only get one kind of injection. Heeehaaa".

Quote:
Each year, U.S. farmers raise some 36 million beef cattle. Farmers fatten up two-thirds of these animals by using hormones.

Many cattle are fed the same muscle-building androgens—usually testosterone surrogates—that some athletes consume. Other animals receive estrogens, the primary female sex hormones, or progestins, semiandrogenic agents that shut down a female's estrus cycle. Progestins fuel meat-building by freeing up resources that would have gone into the reproductive cycle.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

I'm a vegitarian, and I think PETA misrepresents vegitarians. It makes vegitarians look like morons. I'm a vegitarian because I am concerned for my health. It has nothing to do with possibilities, it has to do with substantiated facts.

The facts are...

People who eat red meat are more likely to develop colon cancer.

Cruetzfeld-Jakob Syndrome, the human variant of BSE, is caused by prions, which are formed because we feed animals bits of other animals in order to bulk them up more. Prions are not alive, but they will put holes in your brain. It's a rare disease, but probably one of the most horrific, and the worst part is, you can cook your stake with a blowtorch, but the prions will still be there, and still be deadly.

My family has a history of high cholesterol. Meat consumption has been linked to high cholesterol, although genetic factors are important. Genetics are not on my side.

I dislike causing unecissary pain, and I don't need to eat meat to live, or even to live well. However, I am not against testing pharmaceuticals which could help humans on animals, or medical research using animals. I believe that humans are more imporant than animals because I am a human, but I do not believe that means I should abuse my position, so to speak. To be fair, I intend on donating my body to science.
