Your reply has nothing to do with that.

"stem cell research" is about HELPING PEOPLE'S LIVES.
It's not about "politics".
It's only political because people MAKE it political.

Naw.
I think I'ld rather have the government put some money into it.
The government's interest in doing so is for the betterment of society. Stem cell research helps improve our quality of life.

Ergo, the government should be involved with medical research.
A majority agrees with me.

And you've got nothing better than a mundane complaint to go against it.

I completely agree. There is no other country I'd willingly lay down my life for. I just hope that we as Americans don't get so fat and lazy that we begin to rest on our laurels. And we also can not allow our morals to continue slipping into oblivion. We must remember that we are one small part of a global society, one in which we must learn to live and get along. Once we have mastered that we truly will be #1!

So Slovenia is the safest country in the world - for murder.

That's a little like sayin that North Dakota has the lowest amount of inner-city gang violence of any state in the Union.

Then let's get the government to fund everything with OUR money. Get that damn Jerry Lewis off the TV every Labor Day and let's just let the government tax us all to hell so these fat cats who run these research centers can get rich off the American people. No thanks.

Hyperbole is not an argument.
If that's your only argument, you obviously have nothing.

Okay, argue this.

Why is the Stowers Institute in Missouri giving 28 million to the campaign to add embryonic stem cell research Amendment to the constitution of Missouri? When you answer that, then you will know what you are arguing about.

JEFFERSON CITY — A husband and wife, both cancer survivors, are the source of nearly 97 percent of the campaign funds in 2006 in support of the stem cell research proposal on the November ballot, according to the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The contributions come from James Stowers, who survived prostate cancer, and his wife, Virginia Stowers, a breast cancer survivor. Their Stowers Institute for Medical Research is a not-for-profit organization in Kansas City that seeks to prevent and cure diseases by sponsoring research on genes that control the processes of cells.

Since October 2005, the two have contributed the single *largest chunk of the Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures campaign’s $25.51 million.

The Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures campaign committee was created in response to the stem cell ballot initiative, and is one of its primary proponents.
Columbia Missourian - One couple dominates stem cell donations

It looks like the Stowers are intimately familiar with debilitating sickness, and realize that there are a small minority of zealots who would stand in the way of medical advancement...

I'm sure that's not the answer you are looking for, but maybe you should answer your own question...
(Remember how I told you that you posing leading questions doesn't work because I cannot read your mind???
Make your argument.)
