JEFFERSON CITY — A husband and wife, both cancer survivors, are the source of nearly 97 percent of the campaign funds in 2006 in support of the stem cell research proposal on the November ballot, according to the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The contributions come from James Stowers, who survived prostate cancer, and his wife, Virginia Stowers, a breast cancer survivor. Their Stowers Institute for Medical Research is a not-for-profit organization in Kansas City that seeks to prevent and cure diseases by sponsoring research on genes that control the processes of cells.

Since October 2005, the two have contributed the single *largest chunk of the Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures campaign’s $25.51 million.

The Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures campaign committee was created in response to the stem cell ballot initiative, and is one of its primary proponents.
Columbia Missourian - One couple dominates stem cell donations

It looks like the Stowers are intimately familiar with debilitating sickness, and realize that there are a small minority of zealots who would stand in the way of medical advancement...

I'm sure that's not the answer you are looking for, but maybe you should answer your own question...
(Remember how I told you that you posing leading questions doesn't work because I cannot read your mind???
Make your argument.)
As usual, you don't get it or do not want to get it. I've had cancer twice and a heart attack. I'm not for embryonic stem cell research. Why would this couple give over 25 million to the campaign? Are you gonna tell me again it is because they are just good people who have suffered and want to help mankind? You better pedal that crap to someone who smokes the same shit you do.

They look to gain billions in federal contracts that's why. You democrats must think the rest of us are as stupid as your voting block. It's all about money and always has been about money. Put a hollywood movie star up there with Parkinson and get a couple cancer survivors and bingo, hook them on the sympathy rag. Not me. Try again.

Actually, that was not really my point. My point was... #1 in WHAT?

If being #1 means that the rest of the world admires us and seeks to emulate us, I think we fail miserably. We had the support of just about the entire world back when we were attacked. We lost alot of it when we went on the pre-emptive attack, and we are losing more of it as time goes on.

According to who? The leftist media? France? Liberals? Muslims?

Tough shit. Here's a quarter, call someone who cares. If you go around spending you life trying to please people, al you are going to end up doing is becoming nuts and lose your direction. Leaders lead, they don't follow. America is a leader.

Einstein flunked math in high school.
Edison was hard of hearing and because of that a lot of people thought he was stupid and laughed at him. Lindburgh was laughed at and then became a hero when he made it as the first person to cross the atlantic by air.
Abraham Lincoln was the most hated man in the south and shot by a southern sympathizer. Maybe he should have listened to them and resigned and surrendered.

These men changed history because they were not followers and did not listen to naysayers. The world is full of them and a lot of them are called news reporters on TV and the newspapers.

Like I've said, most of the time your perspective is so warped and ignorant that I don't know what you think you're talking about.

Considering you are the one "smoking shit", you'll have to excuse me while I find your statement a lot absurd.
Yes, based on what I saw. I think that is precisely why they are doing that.
If you don't want to believe it, that's your own perogative.
If want to give more information, then I recommend you do so.

"billions"?
How the heck is that going to work?
I thought you and Jefferson kept saying that stem cells haven't been "PROVEN" to cure anything.
Ergo, wouldn't it be a losing proposition, if they are actually financially involved in stem cells?

Perhaps you can explain how they can gain "billions" off of something you harp on doesn't "cure" anything...

And here we have the typical alias M.O.
Claim plenty, Prove NONE of what he says, and call anything that disagrees with you as "stupid", leaving that as your primary argument...

You aren't convinced. I get that.
But do you get that you haven't presented ANYTHING that would persuade others to your perspective?

So according to you they are giving over 25 million just because they want to. Man you really are naive. There is billions to be made if this becomes law. So these nice people just decide to give over 25 million with no hope of making any money if the amendment passes. Right. And you are the tooth fairy.

You have presented ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to show how they would gain, and how much they would gain, if stem cell research on embryoes is allowed.
NOTHING.

Bill Gates is giving away millions.
Is THAT all just a business venture aimed at making him more money?
Must be, because people like you can't fathom how it could be anything else..

Again, I repeat the problem with your arguments which you cannot address...

How does Bill Gates giving money away coincide with this couple giving over 25 million to an amendment campaign that if passed with benefit them monetarily? Explain yourself.

Gates is making a tax write off. This couple is making an investment.

Right in the link to the Columbia Missourian it says the couple looks to gain billions if the amendment is passed. It also says if the amendment is not passed, they will not expand their research center. Duh.

According to numerous newspapers and polls.

America is a leader in what? This is what I've been trying to get out of you guys.

Leaders usually have followers. Who are ours? Who is emulating our lead?

You just confirmed what I stated. The leftist media.

Those who are fighting terror with us. Russia, Japan, Great Britian, Canada, Australia, Israel, Iraq, Kuwait. That is 8 nations I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more. How many allies fought with us in WWII? 4 or 5. Looks pretty good to me. You can't believe that shit you read in the papers. They have an agenda and that is to destroy anyone who is not a democrat.

Hmm... why, in the age of internet and online newspapers, do you assume I meant only American newspapers?
