Google it.

There's a LOT of information about it. The following is just one link.

YES: Former CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg argues that liberal bias is pervasive in news reporting, the result not a conspiracy but of a mind-set among media elites acquired from the homogeneous social cirlces in which they live and work.

Any ideas on why this is a good point would be greatly appreciated. I would like to hear your own opinions also. Cheers
If you're going to do a debate, do your research first, and get information from reliable sources. I recall high school and college debaters going to the library (this was before computers and internet) to prepare for their subject, and they had to have info from both sides. Know what your opponents are going to argue.

That said, if you are going to argue that journalism professors indoctrinate their journalism students with their political beliefs, you had better have proof to support that claim.... I don't know that a general claim will suffice (as given in the article Jefferson gave you), so you may want to look for a more specific study on journalism professors.

Good luck, and have fun!

American media is anything but liberal when compared to our European cousins or any other industrialized nation for that matter. This can be seen quite clearly when knowledge is gained about who exactly is in control of our mass media and thus what we see and hear.

Media Reform Information Center

90% of all American media can be traced back to only 5 major corporations who have anything BUT liberal owners. These companies are: Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS). And when we say media we not only include television but almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies.

Liberal media bias is simply another link in the chain of conservative lies.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Our media is biased, but we tend only to see a bias when it is a bias which disagrees with us. I believe that the media has a liberal bias when it comes to foreign policy, war, and government spending. But when it comes to social issues, it sometimes has a conservative bias. I am particularly talking about gay rights and censorship.

Gay Marriage - News sources tend to use wording which makes gay marriage sounds very different and foreign from straight marriage. Further, they tend to totally misrepresent arguments in support of gay marriage, and repeatedly make mention of all of the states which voted against gay marriage. Television shows are a different story: most television shows are strongly biased in support of gay rights.

Censorship - Whether it's a school shooting or a sniper in Washington DC, the media will find every excuse to blame video games and violence on television and in movies. For example, when that sniper was in Washington DC, many news sources blamed a video game called Counter-Strike. But after the sniper was caught, it became clear that he played no video games at all and had no idea what Counter-Strike is. Of course, the media did not correct itself.

I noticed these two issues because they are particularly important to me, but I would not be surprised if the media held a conservative bias on other issues, such as flag burning, the pledge of allegience, religion in government, etc.

Conservatives tend to want as much money as they can get their hands on.... teaching positions simply don't pay enough and conservatives go elsewhere.

Those who can, do.
Those who can't, teach.
