Does the Media have a Liberal Bias?
I'm going to be involved in a class debate on whether or not the media have a liberal bias. I will be on the yes side.

YES: Former CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg argues that liberal bias is pervasive in news reporting, the result not a conspiracy but of a mind-set among media elites acquired from the homogeneous social cirlces in which they live and work.

Any ideas on why this is a good point would be greatly appreciated. I would like to hear your own opinions also. Cheers

Very good point. The reason the media has a liberal bias is because all the journalists have to go to journalism school which is full of liberal professors educated by other liberal professors. The colleges are for the most part liberal because the people who inhabit them live in an insulated world. They don't have to struggle in the real world against competition. There isn't any. They have job security that the rest of us can only dream about. In the real world you can get fired in a moment. In the academic world it takes months of hearings and then if you do get fired, you get a nice severance package. The academic media world is insulated from the real world. That is why it is mostly liberal.

I believe that almost all of the media has a liberal bias, but it reaches further than just the news stations into movies/tv and so on. Reba Macentyre a few years ago was tradeing guns for albums. Sean Penn George Clooney Danny Glover Susan Suranden all people who use there social status to push their beliefs found in the liberal media on impressionable youths

The media has a liberal bias. Of that fact there is no question.

It's like admitting that university & college professors have a liberal bias. 80-90% of all secular college & university professors are admitted liberals and/or registered Democrats. So people like Katzinsky think they're getting an "education", when in reality they're getting an "indoctrination".

"indoctrination" is right. Take the movie "Good night and good luck" for example. The liberals vilified the guy because he was a drunk. He was a drunk. He was also right about commies being in the government.

There's a saying......"those who can, do. Those who can't, teach". The colleges are full of failures teaching our youth. The problem is the students think these idiots are smart when, in fact, a lot of them are hiding from the real world in their soft cushy positions because they don't have what it takes to be successful in a competitive world. Not all of them, but for sure a lot of them. Ward Churchill comes to mind and he is not alone. A pure idiot, liar, and con man if there ever was one.

Very early on in my "educational career" I was interested in Veterinary Science. It was a well-known joke at our college that two of the Ag Professors - brothers - had literally gone broke farming. They took over their father's successful farm and ran it into the ground. Then, after FAILING as farmers, they got jobs teaching college kids how to be farmers!

No wonder so many college kids are so stupid!

Could it be the media had a Neo conserv slant before everyone started realizing all the bullshit we were being handed?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

Why did CNN decide to show a video given to them by terrorists of terrorist snipers killing our soldiers right before the election? Now tell me there is no liberal bias in the media. That is not news, that is propaganda to help democrat candidates. No wonder the terrorists are so happy the dems won. Why is that? Duh!!
