What makes you think our media is liberal?
Our media is less liberal than Canada's & Europe's, our closest cousins. As a liberal I don't find it very liberal at all.
--- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope ---

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

It's just not conservative. And therefore it is liberal to Jefferson. Except for Fox News, they're fair and balanced!

I find it very intersting that most conservatives will very happily state that Fox news is the PRIMARY SOURCE OF NEWS for the MAJORITY of americans.

Yet in spite of the fact that most americans get their news from an overtly CONSERVATIVE channel, somehow they still manage to claim that the media has a liberal bias.

I mean dammit what difference does it make when MOST AMERICAN OBVIOUSLY GET THEIR NEWS FROM A CONSERVATIVE CHANNEL?

Is this not slightly inconsistent with the constant lamenting over how the american public is being fooled by the liberal media? How can they be fooled when most of them watch FOX?

First of all, what do you REALLY know about the Mainstream American Media?

Second, I never watch FoxNews. But I DO know that Fox regularly has programming where they'll have both an openly conservative and openly liberal co-host, and they'll approach things that way. You NEVER see that with other Mainstream Media. They're entirely liberal.

Third, I don't know how many people watch FoxNews as opposed to the other Mainstream Media. Fox claims to be #1, but so too does the President of Iran.

Jefferson's contention that journalists voting democrat invariably leads to false reporting is just indicative of a paranoid frame of mind. But of course a complete lack of objectivity is not universal, and anyone who assumes such only indicates their own inability for objective analysis.

It is hardly surprising that journalists vote democrat as they are often better informed and required to analyse information in more depth rather than stick to emotive issues.

To assume that journalists spit on their profession and report news according to political alleigances is really an insult to these professionals. This obsession that people ar incapable of objective thought in spite of their political beliefs is only indicative of the accusers unnuanced approach.

Of course they also conveniently forget that FOX celebrities like Hannity and O'Reilly both have been caught presenting non-facts as facts on their respective shows.
Thus conservatives assume that all liberal journalists do the same.

That said i should add that i agree that characters like Al Franken are no better. But it is unfair to assume that NO JOURNALIST is capable of objectivity. In fact i would consider SUCH a situation an admission of complete incompetence of the entire media industry of america.

I find it exceedingly funny that conservatives tend to lament the injustices committed against them ( NEVER failing to exploit a chance to bitch ) and STILL have the gall to throw mud at liberals complaining about FOX "News".

And so you simply avoid answering the uncomfortable questions.

Hahahahaha.. yeah i'm sorry.. I forgot to answer it simply because i thought it was pretty obvious that i watch a crapload of american TV.

This world has changed jefferson. I watch the exact same TV as you do.. minus the local channels, just as you cannot view the local channels here. Also i happen to have stayed in the US over several periods. So yeah i have more than a cursory knowledge of American Media.

Anyhow apart from this little irellevancy ( which you could have answered yourself had you been able to get past your prejudiced view of the primitive state of Pakistan ) you have not asked any question. And you most CERTAINLY have not asked a question that i would not answer..

Interesting.... Duuuh.

hkbajwa, I would like to point out that Al Franken is not a reporter and doesn't consider himself so. He's a comedian, and a satirist. On the other hand, people like Hannity, O'Reilly or Beck consider themselves to be authorities in factual news. There is a difference. Plus, I'm sure you can get more truth from satirists like Jon Stewart and Al Franken than you can conservative talking heads.
