Yeah, Coulter isn't all that bright at all.

Actually she did debate Bill Maher; she's been on his show a few times before. Every time the extent to her stupidity and lack of sense and decency never cease to amaze.

I think that's the main reason she seems "smart".
She spews out "facts and figures", but typically nobody is around to call her on it (or they just plain don't call her on it), and what she "spewed" goes unchallenged.
