| The two week suspension is what actually makes me think this whole unfortunate incident was a ratings ploy. If you, as his employer, believe his actios were that detrimental to your business, why not just fire him outright to save face? In Business 101 that would be called damage control. There was none here until sponsors started leaving. Don't get me wrong here. This in no way means I advocate Imus's actions-whether his own by choice or done at the behest of others. Plainly put, it was stupid. I disagree with many on the reason for this incident; but it was wrong in and of itself. I particularly disagee with Imus at first trying to use the defense that African-American men (some, not all) disrespect, degrade, and objectify African-American women- rappers in particular. Is he correct? Yes. Is this an excuse or a defense for his behavior? No. If Mr. Imus wanted to try to address this issue, I think he should have brought this up in another manner entirely. This has lead to the double-standard issue. Again, this should have been addressed differently. Throwing gasoline on a fire has never entinguished one, but has just made it worse. I don't think the saying "fighting fire with fire" applies here. I hope that America can get past this blight on society. Now you know why I have such a great distaste for the subject of race; it is being perverted for purpose yet again. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Don Imus is a good man. He should not have said what he said but that's all. Put him back on the air everywhere. Besides, the great majority of the people in this world are all a little racist, especailly the pig Sharpton and the traitor Jackson. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Money talks and B.S. walks-that's the way of the world. Again, I don't know if Imus is a good man or not, I've never met him to allow me to form an opinion. Obviously, whether you like him or not, FMDog; he won't be back on the air anytime soon- if ever. Sponsors would see a risk in dealing with any media outlet that chose to have Imus. In risk comes lack of confidence; and in that comes lack of sponsorship money. I understand your distaste for Al Sharpton. I think him not to be a pig so much as an opportunist on the race issue. Funny thing though, as much as whites claim to dislike this man, they don't realize that they are the ones who have elevated him to this supposed position of civic leader. It is these same whites who seek him out to apologize in racial situations. I remember reading an article during the Michael Richards debacle that stated "Sharpton speaks for 70 to 80% of African-Americans". That was more insulting to me than anything Richards said or even thought! Al Sharpton does not speak for African-Americans. Those of us with education (I am not a college graduate), money(I learned investing early in life as a teenager and have amassed more money and net worth than Al Sharpton could ever dream of),and just plain common sense (I believe I possess this quality) wouldn't have a darn thing to do with this man.(again; trying to be polite using the word "darn".)I wish the whites of America would grasp that fact.Just disregard Sharpton completely and he will disappear! As far as Jesse Jackson, why is he a "traitor"? That one you will have to please explain to me FMDog. Last edited by nuttyjoe; 05-03-2007 at 02:39 AM. Reason: misspellings | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I don't believe ABC will take a risk right now, if ever, with Imus. I am positive that Barbara Walters won't-and she is still the ABC poster girl. | |||||||||||||||||||||
