It's good that the Military will have it's own YouTube Channel, although it sucks that it will mostly be prepared through official channels, but they need to ease some of the restriction for the Troops in the Field. If troops can't easily e-mail home, it's going to have a serious impact on morale... TadpoleNet Tech News & Politics - U.S. Military Launches YouTube Channel, Blocks Troops from Seeing it... |

Level up: 53%, 110 Points needed | | It makes sense on a "loose lips sink ships" level, but I'd figure most soldiers would have the common sense not to videotape a briefing and post it. Seems unnecessary to block it. Just tell people what they can and can't post to protect missions. And nobody said it can't be monitored.

For example my blog ( War in the SandBox...) is registered with the DoD, they have a team of people who are supposed to check registered blogs. If it were not registered, and it was found I'd be slapped on the proverbial pee-pee. If I post something they think is a potential security risk, they let me know... |

My point in this whole thing is that the American people deserve to get some of the real message from the war, they deserve to see the positive things we are doing, not just the negative. They deserve to hear opinions from people that are there, not just pundits and arm-chair generals.
This is the best marketing tool the DoD has, military member produced blogs & videos and content, but the DoD in it's infantile wisdom chooses to stifle that... It's foolishness. War in the SandBox... |
