If you want to know why we are losing the war on terror, it becasue we have too damn many cowards in this country and in this world. the ROE in the mideast in more on helping the terrorist, one man on asked "how can you tell who is the enemy" in the mideast, it anyone that is not helping our troops to defeat the insurgents. we need to allow our military to do the job they are place for and stop crying about everybodies else rights, i stand beside the troops for better or worst, now i ask all of you,"who do you care about" our troops or the terrorist that are killing woman and childern...is that better tad????

I agree with you that in many cases the Rules of Engagement are far to restrictive. It seems like every time one of our convoys had to pass through Kabul, and they did not have permission to return fire, they were attacked, but if they had permission they were not attacked...

I understand that we can not stoop to the level of the enemy, however I think we do need to understand that we are not combating conventional forces, and unconventional forces require unconventional methods. I could give dozens of tails where the RoE were overly restrictive, or worked to our severe disadvantage...

You can't fight insurgency with conventional armies. This has been shown time and time again. And for all practical purposes, even the terrorists are insurgents in Iraq.

Come on tad,how are we going to win anything with that idea, sometimes you have to get down in the dirt with these(fine fellows) to get at them, and as a military man you should know this. we can't play by thier rules, we have to get un-civil in order to take control and make this world civil, in other words you can't make a cake without breaking a few eggs.

That is exactly the point that the Government needs to understand... You can't fight a concept with Military Forces...

I don't believe we need compromise our morals and ethics to match enemy tactics. I have been extensively trained in Psychological Operations, we need more PsyOp, Civil Affairs and SF to with this war... Infantry can never defeat insurgents.

not more phyco bullshit,I can take the man i have serve with and wipe you out before you say popcorn,war is a bitch and not a game, in combat i wasn't worried about what the enemy have on his mind nor was i worried about ethics,in war you need to kill everything around you that is not on your side..

That's not really what PsyOps is about... that's the movie dramatazation. PsyOps is primarily about getting a positive message to the people, showing them there is a better way... And showing the good things the U.S. Does, vs. the Horrid things Al Qaeda and the Taliban does...

I wasn't surprised we went into Afghanistan - the Taliban were harboring terrorists.

But then I expected a lull. Several months, maybe a year, before we heard much more about terrorists.

After that period, I fully expected to read news reports of 'terror suspect's body found in ditch', 'six terror suspects bodies found on elevator', etc, etc.

I figured the whole war would be fought underground - down there in the trenches where the bad guys actually could be found.

Instead, we've created a recruiting poster even Osama could not have imagined.
