Are we treating the military families right?
Is there anything being done to help the military, like paying them more so they can feed thier families, I heard of Taps, it is the only one?

I think Military families need much more support. This war is taking a huge toll not only on the troops but those they leave behind as well. I know people on Active Duty who legally qualify for Welfare! and that's not right...

Back in Nam era, those families who live on base had just 30 days to get out...when the soldier got killed

I think most people have many misconceptions about the Military lifestyle. Many people think that our housing is "paid for", when in reality (as you know) we only get an allowance, that often is not enough to cover the rent...

The military is taking care of people (financially) better today than they used to, but we have a long way to go...

I was single when I was in the Navy, they paid for my housing! I lived in lower berthing in a 2x6 ft rack my locker was underneath it 6in deep. I had another locker 6in wide 3ft tall 2ft deep (for hanging my dress uniforms) I was allowed to live there, that was my allowance.

That's why so many young kids get married, to get that housing allowance.

that messed up did you live on a ship all the time, even when in dock? in the Army you had to be atleast a E-4 before you could get off base housing allowance.

I heard they are doing just fine. Heard that a woman who lived on the east coast forged the name of her husband(who is over in Iraq still) to withdraw 25,000 from their savings, sold his car, and sold the house(for far lower then it was worth) and ran off to Fargo, SD to be with another man. The husband signed a waver to give his wife Power of Attorney if he died or because incapacited while over there but she forged his name after claiming he had died and now he is left with nearly nothing while fighting over in Iraq.

So whether we are treating Army familes good or not, seems they are doing well on their own
This posting was kinda just to kid around BUT the story is accualy true
Agreeing with Tad, we are taking better care of the familes then in the past.
