| We do still get Sea Pay. Though it's better these days... When I left Sea Duty I was getting $450 per month. | I think the drinking age should be 18 nation wide, but certainly for the military. If we were a nation of walkers, I would agree with you. But we are a nation of drivers. How about if we change the military age to 21? Last I heard you couldn't be a cop until you are 21. | Really? I guess it must vary then. Here you have to be 21. "Karma usually has a wingman." -- Some cop guy on TV "I will hold up America to the lightning scorn of moral indignation. | Now when I went to combat in Desert Shield/Storm, during the time I was deployed I was exempt from income taxes. Now I know it has been a few years since then, but does this not still apply. I know as much as we may like it, we are never exempt from all taxes, we still get hit hard from the payroll taxes. However, being exempt from the income tax was sure a nice thing at the time. Is this still the case Tad?? dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- | |||||||||||||||||||||

I believe everybody is entitled to the latter if you are resident outside of the US for more than 185 days in any Financial Year. However, you might still be required to pay income tax in the country where you spend that time, depending on which country it is. There is no income tax in either Saudi or Kuwait, nor in any of the other Gulf states, as far as I am aware | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| I have no problem with a tax-free military. I think it's the least we can do for a women and men in uniform. Last edited by OnTheLeft; 06-21-2007 at 05:17 PM. | |||||||||||||||||||||
