I also support an income tax-free military. The risk is quite enough payment.

Property taxes are a different animal...

I know as much as we may like it, we are never exempt from all taxes, we still get hit hard from the payroll taxes. However, being exempt from the income tax was sure a nice thing at the time. Is this still the case Tad??

I agree with you 100%. This is one of many great ideas; but the huge Republican Tax Cuts and huge Republican increases in spending makes these kinds of ideas impractical. Our National Debt, I like to call it the Debt Tax, is out of control.

I agree. And I wish more people could see that the National Debt IS a Tax... It creates a huge burden on us all. I think that's why it is so important for people to watch government spending, and do whatever they can to curtail it.

I actually saw a digital counter for the total National Debt and the amount each family must pay to eventually satisfy it when I went into the city Saturday. I think the per family average was about $180,000 or so. It's out of control, and frankly I think a great deal of it has to do with overspending on the military.

Even better, there is such precedence for exemption from income tax. Check out sections 851-858 of the IRS Tax Code. I invest in some REIT's and MLP's. Check out the special tax advantages they enjoy.
