Haha....I thought I'd never have to see it again
I just started playing Counter-Strike again, and it brought back fond memories of being 13.
Hahahaha....don't worry, I know the feeling...I just can't bring myself willingly to type anything like that again...even in the name of humor
Maybe...unwillingly, then? >

This quote was a reference to my comment that the next on bush's list was Iran. Funny how this is working out, huh?

Iran was probably always on the menu.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Not nearly as bad as Iran will.

I highly doubt it. It is true that invading Iran would be a big mistake, and the American military would have to sacrafice a lot. It is true that Iran is many times more defended than Iraq was. The main difference between Iran and Iraq is that Iran actually has a somewhat formitable (for the region) Navy and Airforce that would see combat in an event of US invasion, including some newer generation aircraft that they got from Russia. But the vast majority of their arsenal is made up of hand-me-downs from North Korea and China. A military victory in a sense that the Iranian military is defeated, will be pretty easy for the United States military. The US military is very efficient in the ways of a total war campaign, and was in fact mainly deseigned to take place efficiently in a hypothetical war with the Soviet Union. And the military in the recent years has undergone reforming to be very efficient at plain and desert style warfare.

The true threat that the United States military is not prepared to deal with is guerilla warfare by a rebellious population, as we see in Iraq. The United States military is trained to fight on a total war front, not as an occupying police force and fighting an insurgency. Training against this guerilla-type warfare was in fact cut from the military program years ago. Mainly because US military commanders and politicians thought we would be welcomed with open arms as liberators where ever we happen to be invading. So the true threat in the case of Iran is not its military, but moreso its radically patriotic population, and its multi-million man reserve waiting to launch a massive guerilla style war against the US military. Just think, in Iraq today the insurgency forces total in the tens of thousands, imagine an insurgency of millions. There would be continous ambush attacks left and right. We would literally have to level towns and cities with massive bombing runs to make the place safe, which I'm afriad is what the US military would do in an invasion.

But now take that thought of a very unstable Iran, and multiply it tenfold or more. That would be North Korea. Iraq was essentially a defensless state. The failing US occupation of Iraq will probably go down as one of the worst failures in world military history. Here is an essentially defensless state, mostly welcoming when the US first entered, and the Bush administration managed to turn it into a rebellious front on which the US military is losing. Most of Iraq indeed did welcome the overthrow of Saddam at first, but as time progressed, they realized that one dictator was only being replaced by another, and violence insued. If the US military can't handle this, what makes people think they could handle North Korea?

North Korea has a populace that is essentially the most patriotic in the world. The dictatorship in North Korea is perhaps one of the worst in world history. The history of Kim Jong-Il and esspecially his father Kim Il-Sung, far outshadows the horror stories of Hitler, Mao, and Stalin combined. North Koreans believe that Kim Il-Sung is basically their God and the source of all life on Earth. When their "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-Il "was born on a sacred Korean mountain amid double rainbows and bright stars," according to a North Korean legend. They don't fight for Allah, they don't fight for God or Jesus, they fight for their "Great Leader." The pure totalitarian government controls every aspect of North Korean life, including religion, which was banned except for Kim Il-Sung's own religion.

North Korea, as described even by US military commanders, is one of the few military states that can involve the United States in total war, and actually have a chance in military victory. The US military is essentially completely unprepared for the type of terrain that they would be fighting on in a second Korean War. All the benifits you hear about all the time about the US' "grand tank", the Abrams tank, will mostly be rendered useless in mountainous warfare; mostly leveling the playing field in tank battles. North Korea's main deterrent for war is not nuclear weapons, which many people don't know, but rather its massive artillery capability that has the ability to completely destroy all South Korean and US military bases and equipment as far as just south of Seoul, within a couple of hours. North Korea has the largest and most powerful artillery system in the world, featuring the largest and heaviest field artillery and MLRs systems in the world. All of which, have the capability of shooting off vollys of chemical and biological warfare shells.

North Korea is the only country in the world aside from Switzerland that has mountain warfare special forces units, that has developed special bikes for mountain warfare. North Korea has almost ten-thousand underground military facitilies which is linked by hundreds of kilometers of tunnel. With millions of tons of equipment and food stored underground. North Korea communicates by underground optical fibers, rendering US' abilities to tap into North Korean communications to nearly zero percet success rate. Not to mention it would be virtually impossible to plant human agents in North Korea. Most of North Korea's weapons systems are very defended. Radar sites have the ability to 'pop out and down' in the ground where a armored "lid" slids over the radar when it detects inbound US missiles, blocking anything short of a bunker-buster missile. North Korea has the largest special forces in the world with hundreds of thousands of highly trained soldiers, which had to face some of the most rigorous training in the world second to only the training of Kim Jong-Il's own body guards.

US e-bombs that disable devices, which proved to be very usefull in the war with Iraq, will be rendered with little use as North Korea relies heavily on non-electric command and control means. North Korea is one of the few countries in the world to actually train and maintain hacker units, with at least 100 hackers being trained each year. North Korea is also fully autonomous. Any santions on the part of Russia or North Koreas only 'ally' in the hypothetical war, China, would be of little help. North Korea makes its own weapons and equipment.

All of this on top of North Korea's infantry strategy of waves of millions of troops supported by cheap by numerous armor could destroy the US military. No matter how technologically advanced, the US would be simply overrun by the massive number of North Koreans. This "gang-bang" style of fighting (for lack of better terms) proved to be very efficient in pushing the Americans and South Koreans out of Northern Korea during the first Korean war, as demonstrated by China. It also is what gave the Soviet Union victory over Nazi Germany, which was always superior in technology as compared to the allies.

So Iran would be bad, but North Korea would essentially be the "worst case scenario" today. Not only would an occupation of North Korea be virtually impossible, but a military victory improbable. Even US Commanders openly say so despite the taboo of the subject. The US military war planners conducted a number of "war games" of a hypothetical Second Korean War. The result? North Korea came out the victor with and without nuclear weapons.
