White phosphorous or willie pete not burning clothing, wow that is amazing. Having served in the army for 11 years, in the infantry for 4 and then medical field for 7, I didn't know that. Wow this must be some new kinda of WP because in the infantry we always used WP as an incidenary device. What we like best about it was the fact that it would always make those old BDU's go up in flames, and that was always fun to watch. Especially when the mannequin's head would burst into flames.

As a Naval Weapons Specialist, who has worked with white phosphorus I can assure everyone here that 'Willy Pete' will burn absolutely everything it comes in contact with, even metal. It can melt sand into glass. The shit is dangerous, and it is against the geneva convention to fire it at personnel.

The Geneva convention does not allow for the use of incendiary devices against civilians and non-combatants. However, the use of incendiary devices against military targets is allowed.

Exactly, you can also use it against military equipment, and guess what... Canteens are military equipment... If there happens to be a soldier strapped to that canteen... well we were shooting at the canteen.

According the the class I just took on the law of armed conflict, which is required for all personnel heading down range, the use of White Phosphorus is forbidden against personnel and to do so is punishable under the UCMJ.

However, the use of WP against tanks, artillery pieces, and building containing troops/personnel is allowed, all military targets, targets that give the enemy an advantage.

It is illegal for use against soldiers. That is exactly how it was used. America is guilty of war crimes.

It is illegal to use against troops in the open, if they were in a building or vehicle, it's fair game. And either way it's kind of a stupid rule. If I find the enemy I will destroy them by any prudent means made available to me.
